Walked in to the Back Bay store to browse and consider purchasing a new office chair, small side tables and other furniture items for some newly renovated rooms in our house since I have an account after purchasing some furniture from the online store for which the delivery and set up were impeccable. Never have I been made to feel so unwelcome in a store!!! The employees avoided eye contact, and one of the them grimaced in response to my smile and immediately looked away. Other potential customers walked in while I was there and were greeted with friendly hello's. Clearly the employees 'judge a book by its cover' and I didn't look like the kind of customer they could be bothered to acknowledge or waste their time on. A striking difference in attitude and customer service from the Design Within Reach store in Cambridge where I bought a beautiful chair last year. If I had known this is how Room & Board treat people who look like me I would never have purchased the bed and storage unit I purchased from them online a few months ago. Their loss!! Annoyed because there were some pieces I really liked and strongly considered purchasing, but on principle I won't set foot in or shop in their store ever again!! Circle Furniture, Design Within Reach, Crate and Barrel etc - all stores where I have been treated in a respectful fashion-- here I come with my hundreds or thousands of dollars worth...
Read moreIf I can I will definitely give them ZERO stars! This is just so ridiculous! When I received the email it says the bed will be arriving 2:30-4:30 and the address on the email was wrong! I called to the company they said the address on their system were correct and don’t know why the email was wrong! Ok that’s fine! However, on the delivery date I took a day off waiting for the bed to be arriving! But they didn’t come on time! I called the company the company said they couldn’t reach the driver want me to call back to the company an half hour later! Fine I waited! Then someone gave me a call saying they won’t be able to come until 8:30 PM! OK! I spent the whole day at home just to wait! But when they arrived the package did not come with the board which it makes us couldn’t set the mattress on it! They said sometimes the company forgot to put it in! We waited almost 3 weeks for it to deliver and spent almost two thousand on a bed with the delivery fee! And when we tried to call back to the company they were already closed because they didn’t know there were things missing until 9:15! My order came and it was just the cover and not the actual second pillow, I called explaining I was told by the person selling it to me that I was buying a second “ PILLOW” I was given a apology and asked if I wanted to by the other part for an additional 35 dollars I tried hinting that I was told I was buying the entire thing for 35 now I need to pay a additional 35?
