Salon West — Local services in Boston

I called Salon 120 West a few days before I was having a photo shoot, hoping to get a last-minute appt for a cut and style. The receptionist who answered the phone was extremely patient and very nice. She was able to get me an appt with Mia for the day and approx. timeframe I was needing.

Cut to the day of the appt. I was running a few minutes late. Thank you, Boston traffic...I called the salon to let them know, along with my ETA. Absolutely no issues.

As soon as I stepped foot in the salon, I was in awe. Cozy sitting area to my left, the receptionist's desk to the right, a row of washing stations and a row of chairs with mirrors. I was immediately greeted and told Mia would be with me shortly. When Mia approached me, she greeted me by name and offered me a water or a soda. I followed her to her station, where she had me put on a gown and brought me over to have my hair washed.

I was asked what I use for shampoo. Nothing special on my end, but whatever was used smelled amazing. Oh, and the chairs at the wash stations are massage ones! Another woman washed my hair (I hate that I'm not recalling names) and towel dried it.

Mia brought me back to the her station after the wash. We discussed what I was looking for in terms of cut and style, and I showed her what my photographer recommended. During the appt, we chatted about random things. Mia was sweet, professional, friendly, and my hair looked and felt amazing in the end! It held up phenomenally for hours, long after my shoot ended. Not sure what hairspray she used to hold it, but my hair didn't feel crunchy or weighed down at all.

While I don't have another appt scheduled, I will be going back in the future. It was an absolute pleasure. Thanks so much to Mia and all the lovely ladies at...

I got my hair highlighted and cut at Salon 120 West by Chloe. The stylist was very rough on my hair and pulled a concerning amount of hair out from how roughly she was brushing it. The tone and look of my highlights did not match the inspiration photos I showed her before we started (which were photos of my own hair from past highlighting experiences). I asked for very cool tone highlights with lots of dimension. My hair ended up having a yellow tone to it and looks very 1 dimensional. I asked for the color to start at my root, and besides the face framing pieces, the color started about 1.5 inches from my root. The hair cut came out decent, though my hair feels terrible from all the breakage she caused.. Overall was very disappointed with the experience and results. Likely will not be returning.

UPDATE: I contacted the salon to see if I could have a complimentary adjustment appointment since I was not happy with how my hair turned out. The receptionist said that would not be a problem. I spoke with the co owner Taylor and she contradicted the receptionist and said I could only have an adjustment appointment with Chloe, even though I was not comfortable with Chloe doing my hair again. I was very disappointed with Taylor’s response and lack of concern for my negative experience at her salon. I had to pay $350+ to get my hair fixed at a different salon. I will never be going back and will make sure none of my friends come here. Terrible service and...

I went here twice a little while ago and both times I absolutely loved how my hair turned out. They seriously know what they are doing with blonde hair... However my experience was a bit stressful. The first time, my hair dresser (I wont name who, again, because my hair did look lovely after) But first off, she wouldn't really speak to me, which is fine, to each their own and she is good at hair! But then while she was blow drying my hair she randomly pressed the hair dryer so close to my scalp it was burning my head and I held on as long as i could (because i hate confrontation)before i physically could NOT take it anymore and I had to YANK my head away from the heat and then i said........" Im so sorry" (YES I APOLOGIZED..???) and she said NOTHING. Literally nothing. Pretended I didn't just yank my head off her hands and yelp, "OUCH!" Straight up pretended it didn't happen. And then she just continued to finish with my hair. It turned out great. Loved my hair.
