I visited Ska Scalp at the end of August and overall had a very pleasant experience. The space was clean, calming, and well-maintained, which immediately set a great tone. The scalp technician was incredibly thorough. I've had several scalp treatments from different places over the years, and this one definitely stood out as top-notch.

What really set this visit apart was how informative and personalized the session was. The technician not only performed the treatment with care and precision but also took the time to educate me on scalp health. She pointed out areas I tend to miss while washing my hair and gave helpful advice that I’ve already started incorporating into my routine. She was also incredibly kind and approachable throughout, a true professional.

The only downside to my visit was a brief interaction at the front desk. When I asked about membership option, one of the women there was unfortunately quite dismissive and simply told me to check the website when I asked about the difference between the scalp treatments and head spa included in the membership. It felt abrupt, especially after such a thoughtful service experience. I understand it was the last appointment of the evening, and the treatment did go past closing time (even though I arrived early), so I can appreciate that staff may have been eager to wrap up. Still, first and last impressions matter, and that interaction did leave a bit of a sour note.

I recently moved from California to Boston and have been very frustrated with finding the right colorist that knows how to lighten Asian hair (and doesn’t charge an arm and a leg). I had two previous hair color jobs at two different salons (which I wasn’t completely happy with) before coming to Sophie at SKA. At first I was skeptical that they could achieve the exact shade/color that I want, considering my hair was already colored AND Asian hair is pretty tricky to lighten to a golden brown. I guess my hair is even tougher because when Sophie and her team did the first application of color, it didn’t make much of a difference on my hair. I was getting nervous and doubted that we could actually get the color that I wanted. But Sophie was confident we could and didn’t hesitate to repeat the whole process which involved another two applications just to get the right color! It was very late and everyone was tired and hungry, but Sophie and her staff stayed overtime to accommodate me and I really appreciated that. Very professional! I was also only charged for a single color application as previously agreed even if it took longer than that. I would highly recommend SKA Boston for hair coloring! I love this salon! I have a wedding coming up and went into the salon to see if I could get a last-minute haircut/hair-coloring appointment. They understood the urgency and were nice enough to squeeze me in. The space is very nice and clean. They even provide lockers if you need them. The staff is polite and very professional. Sophie, the owner, is great. She understood exactly what I wanted after I showed her a few pictures of my ideal hairstyle. She is very easy to talk to and I enjoyed chatting with her while getting my hair done. She also offered great advice for scalp & hair care. She showed me products they use for their popular scalp treatment and I ended up buying a few to take home with me. The coloring is spot-on. It only took one coloring session to get the cool-toned brown color I wanted. I saw people getting really cool colors done there. The results are amazing. Definitely recommend the coloring! The haircut is great too! Sophie cut it exactly like the haircut I asked for. Additionally, I really appreciate that she limits the number of clients she takes a day to maintain the quality of her service and ensure her clients get the best results.
