Studio Baker Salon — Local services in Boston

I am incredibly disappointed. If you seek professional conduct for the professional rates at this studio- and a stylist with investment in their clients- I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

At my last appointment, I attempted to politely raise concerns on the way my hair was being done, to which Alex abruptly raised their voice at me. I was shut down entirely, and ended up receiving neither the service I paid for, nor wanted. Alex refused to address the results, and rushed me out of the salon as soon as my payment went through.

Upon reaching out to talk through what had happened, I was first left on ‘read’. When prompted again a few days later, I was sent a critical message that does not align with the reality of our prior, entirely pleasant appointments. While they acknowledged and apologized for their behavior, I was declined further contact, let alone any correction of the service despite the advertised offer on their website. I am left bewildered as to what happened here, and would unfortunately have to recommend avoiding...

Alex Baker has been my stylist for a few years and I've always felt very confident that my vision will be executed perfectly. Their salon is comfortable with a helpful intake form that makes the client actually feel cared for. And for a professional cut in downtown Boston, their prices are beyond reasonable - I was paying far more in my suburban hometown and at other high-end salons in Boston.

As a nonbinary person with short hair, I've always struggled with traditional hair stylists. They tend to lean toward bowl cuts or "old lady" pixie cuts, which never feel like me. Alex instead works with my hair's natural growth and cowlicks to give me affirming styles. They're always game whether I'm looking for something more exciting or just a regular trim.

I have never been so in love with a haircut and the atmosphere/service of a salon before!!! Truly a 10/10 experience all around!!!! My partner and I went in together for two cuts. Alex was incredible, listening and taking our visions into considerable while also steering me, someone with little knowledge of styling and what cut would compliment me, towards something I wanted but couldn’t verbalize. Alex was so friendly, they went as far as to greet us at the door of the salon complex as we were new clients. They were so easy to talk to during our appointment, making it very easy and comfortable for us to request changes to the cut length/style. I will absolutely be coming back to Alex for all of my future cuts, knowing I’ll leave feeling confident and more than satisfied with my style :) Thank you Alex!!! See you again in...
