Choosing accommodations in a city can be just as important as the experience or venue you visit.|Along with a reasonably priced room, what’s also significant is the location and conveniences available near your stay.|At Hotel Indigo on Friend Street in Boston, I found more than what I was looking for. My time in Boston was to attend an event at TD Garden. I chose Hotel Indigo over the closest hotel to TD Garden because the price was better and the room had a coffee maker. Morning coffee is that important and it was a premium brand. I could see the venue from my room and walk there without a jacket. In that same area are the commuter trains, Amtrak and the subway to connect me to all of Boston.|Quality restaurants and quick eateries about and all a comfortable walk to the North End and Quincy Market.|The hotel check in experience was effortless, friendly and welcoming. I checked my bag in early and then was offered ice cold bottles of water for my self-guided walking tour of Boston. |I was pleasantly surprised to find my room to be calming in subtle blues and beige, spotless and a respite after wearing myself out doing all I could in Boston in one day. The bed was comfortable, the sheets smooth and silky feeling, the pillow…just right! My room had lovely little amenities which would encourage a restful, comfortable evening. Even steps from busy Causeway Street, my room was silent: no street noise, no elevator nearby and no foot traffic from the hallway and no banging doors.|For guests attending events at TD Garden, it is comforting to know that Blakes Kitchen and Bar is open until 1 am so you don’t have to shell out money for the high priced food at venues. Blakes has great fare at seriously reasonable prices for paninis and quick bites and a night cap.|Hotel Indigo in Boston is a sweet little place. The entire city is available to you and just a few steps away from beginning your experience in one of the country’s greatest little cities....
Read moreThis hotel was good for our stay in Boston but we hoped it would be great… The staff made it for us - especially Tati and Kay who even wrote out recommendations for us and were so friendly asking us about our days out etc but also the beds were super comfortable, the bar downstairs reallly good for service and food, and the bathrooms were modern - if a little small. It is brilliantly positioned for watching sport at the stadium and has the most amazing StarMarket within metres. However, our room was an internal one and quite drab with an awful view and sound of the air conditioning units. Our daughters had similar with only a tiny window which faces inwards. When we arrived we were told our rooms were on different floors even though I had emailed previously to ensure they were close as we were travelling with teenagers. They managed to sort this so perhaps our rooms were changed from better ones who knows but that was a bit disappointing… We had good sleeps though which was very pleasing and maybe as people had reported of we had had a room on the front it may have been noisy and affected this. We had no mirror in our room which I thought was strange and ridiculous that they had mounted a mirror on a mirror in our bathroom which was pointless! The fridge was useful and kitchen area BUT there was no cutlery not even a spoon to make a cup of tea! I had to borrow one from the bar downstairs. There were cupboards and drawers but nothing in them… the microwave was good and they had a coffee machine my husband liked and used. We really missed not having a lobby downstairs. Overall we were happy but just a few differences would have made us very happy. The manager said they were hoping to improve the look out the window of the room we had. I wouldn’t return to that hotel unless I was watching a game - it would be...
Read moreUPDATE: This review was originally submitted almost a year ago. Today I received a call from "Shaun (sp) with Hotel Indigo" and he wanted to talk with me about this review. All he did, however was regurgitate the same script I went through with a very rude customer service agent a year ago. He made me feel like 1. I was wrong to request a refund, and 2. I was wrong to compare the way his hotel handled my request vs how the competition, citizen M, had handled a similar request. Well, Shaun: 1. Every customer has the right to request a refund from a business. And 2. It is perfectly acceptable to compare how two competitors conduct business. This is one tool consumers use to determine where to spend their money and Citizen M will get my business over Hotel Indigo all day long.
I also resent your insinuation that I make a habit of booking then cancelling hotel reservations and asking for refunds. This situation has occurred exactly twice. Once with a hotel that values return business (Citizen M, a great hotel with stellar customer service) and one that apparently does not value return business (Hotel Indigo Boston garden).
Shaun (sp) told me he would talk to his "General Manager" and call me back in 15 minutes. Never happened.
The next time I stay at Citizen M, great hotel, highly recommended, I'll be sure to wave to you from across the street.
Once again, THEY called me. Another unpleasant experience with Hotel Indigo/IHG. SMH
These folks refused to refund a reservation I tried to cancel FIVE WEEKS before the date of the stay. It was the night of a Celtics game and there would have been no problem re-selling the room. Oh, make no mistake, they would cancel and take my money, THEN resell the room. We are senior citizens living on a fixed income and we had to eat $400.00. A BIG NO on this place or on any...
