I have been a loyal customer to Mr Pawn for over a decade and have purchased thousands of dollars in guns and have sold them guns as well. Their prices and policies on buying guns is fair but this review is about what happened today with the store manager Tom. I purchased 2 Ruger mk's for myself and my wife and spent around $1,000 on the two guns used. My wife is in retail and today is the first chance we had to try them out. Both guns wouldn't extract the empty casings and guns had to be racked everytime to extract the casings. We then went back to Mr Pawn to explain what happened and when I saw Tom all I said was that both guns weren't working properly and said that they weren't extracting. He asked when I purchased them and it was a few weeks or so ago and he then raised his voice and started yelling at me right in front of my wife. He said you got 10 days and that's it so too bad. He then started yelling that he wasn't going to give me my money back. Bear in mind I haven't said anything except that the guns wouldn't extract, nothing else. I didn't ask for anything back, he then told me I could speak to Jared the owner who knows me very well and I said ok can I speak to him. Tom said that Jared works from home now and I asked when he'd be in and he said he has no idea. I then asked if he would call Jared and let him know id simply like to talk with him and he shouted at me again that he wasn't going to argue with me and said NO! The only comment I made after that was that I never asked for anything and he had no right to tear into me and I said that they're not the only gun store and he said well then go. Horrible customer service, horrible manager and human being. Jared if you're reading this then I respectfully ask to speak to you. I wasn't angry about anything and didn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start this review by saying James is a wonderful salesman and has been fantastic for for few guns Iāve bought in the last 10 days. Unfortunately they will most likely be the last guns I purchase here. Yesterday I call about a gun I wanted. Pretty standard stuff. Well a man named Tom answered the phone and I cannot emphasize enough just how disgustingly rude this name was. I genuinely thought there might have been something wrong with him due to how rude he was. It would take me 2 paragraphs to explain every thing he said. So I said ok let me not act up or anything so I ended to phone call on good terms and due to how nice James had been I decided to remain a customer. Well when I walked in the door tom was there to scream in my face that the gun was gone because I didnāt come in last night and he said it as though I was the stupidest man on the planet for not coming in. Listen I buy a gun every 5-10 days, and since James has been so nice I decided Iāll do most of my gun shopping here which I had been doing. I sadly will never be shopping here again. This isnāt some small oh an employee had an attitude no this was rudeness on another level of nasty that Iāve never experienced. I hope James gets all the praise in the world I genuinely hope he can go work elsewhere so I can still do business with him. But Tom, you sir are a horrible person. Iāve seen the way you talk to the other staff members and the way you talked to me. Youāre awful and I hope management can see that and you get removed so I can go back to my favorite pawnshop/gun-store. I walked in with $3,000 cash this morning and walked out upset that I wonāt see James anymore. Tom...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have bought and sold stuff at the boulder city Mr Pawn for quite a while to include transfers from their other locations. My professional background includes 25 + years combat arms, armory, and instructor/rangemaster. I keep an eye on Mr Pawn's listings for vintage and used firearms that fit my collection requirements.
I deal with James primarily as he is the son in law of a friend of mine and he is very professional and friendly. I've watched over time that he has grown more and more knowledgeable with firearms, does very well with evaluating and cleaning the used ones, and he is very good with customer service.
As I said, firearms have been a primary portion of my career, I have been tied in with firearms industry in the past, have been deemed a firearms expert, master armorer, and instructor. I don't deal with "firearms stores" as 90% of their employees are offensive and incompetent. James and Eric at Mr Pawn, along with some of the staff at Accuracy on Boulder Hwy are the exception.
James is mature beyond his age and I've never seen him BS a customer or try to sell them / up-sell them on something that doesn't suit them. He is very patient, goes over the firearms and features with customers, answers questions best he can, and is never pushy.
Keep up the good work James and keep growing...
