Anna Maria Island Getaway — Local services in Brandenton Beach

We found ourselves booking AMI Getaway after the lady we initially booked with, scheduled us for JUNE instead of July. She owned up to her mistake and sent us a full refund, but that led us to searching for a new place with only a month’s notice. I called Chris at AMI getaway and she got us booked immediately and even gave us a discounted rate! That was SO appreciated!!!

Upon our arrival to AMI Getaway, we entered a quaint little Key West Vibe atmosphere. What you see on the photos online, is exactly it, from the outside to the inside. There are string lights all over outside and at night it’s gorgeous! There are several storage bins, racks, etc filled with chairs, coolers, beach umbrellas, beach carts, floats, fishing poles-literally everything you need equipment wise. Be sure to walk the property, because some of them may not be in eye sight from your room. There are also several tables and chairs where you can relax or even eat, as they have grills for the use of guests!!

Inside, our room looked just as it did on the photos. We stayed in unit 2. There was a little maintenance going on while we were there and it got a little noisy, but nothing obnoxious that interrupted our sleep. The room was equipped with beach towels, ice packs and ice trays for cooler use as well as beach bags/backpacks. They literally offer everything you need. We ended up having a case of water DoorDashed, as we utilized the free trolley for our stay. So, if you don’t have a car or golf cart, door dash anything you may need drink/food wise for the beach! The beach is a very short walk from the room; just right across the street. The room was very clean! Even the floors were clean, which I have found some Florida rentals to not do a great job of since “sand is normal.” While it is, you should still make sure your staff cleans the floors well, and Chris’s staff does! There were plenty of towels, wash cloths and bed linens. A hair dryer was provided, which was nice, as we packed very lightly. Small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided. I would like to suggest possibly getting a shampoo/body wash/conditioner dispenser for hanging on the shower wall. The kitchen was also equipped with dishes and silverware. I think my biggest complaint was the throw pillows on the couch (the yellowish ones) were terribly uncomfortable 😂.

Upon arrival, I looked through the binder laying on the table to look for any recommendations or hidden gems that may be suggested, and they did have their recommended spots. The biggest reason I looked in the binder was to see if there were any check out instructions, which were not in there. I would highly suggest this be added. I only noticed the check out instructions in an email that was sent the day before our departure, but I didn’t see it until we were already at the airport to go home, as I don’t check my emails while on vaca. So, I would suggest putting check out instructions in the binder and/or sending a text with that info. I would’ve happily followed them, had I just been made aware sooner 🙂. They may have been in the links that were sent upon booking, but I wasn’t able to click them, which Chris was aware of.

Throw pillows and checkout instructions: those are my only complaints 😅.

We would stay here again in a heart beat and have already recommended AMI Getaway to a friend and her husband!

Oh! It’s also a short walk to Bridge Street, which we LOVED!! Be sure to check out that area!

Island getaway AMI: Unit #8 upstairs and downstairs

My honey and I stayed for a romantic Christmas holiday. Here are the Pros and Cons: 4 Star rating: Pros: Unit #8 is one of the larger with 3 bed/2 bath and living room and 2 patios upstairs and down outside private and covered. Very relaxing and fun for the whole family. -Amazing upstairs loft outside screened in sitting area for prayer and refreshing Screened in area but front door with plenty of sitting for a large 6-9 ppl gathers and side sofa type with table. Chris and her Brother own the property now and are very kind to reach out before and on check-out. Spacious inside MB downstairs and upstairs leads to a family room TV area and 2 other rooms w Q and Twin beds. Newly renovated bathrooms upstairs and down in the Master Bath is walk in shower. Kitchen is updated and equipped to cook as needed TV works for internet connection upstairs only Nice walk to the beach but all construction in front so not on the beach by any means. Newly painted walls etc. to cover past mistakes and issues SUPER cold - keep it at 68 degrees always there to avoid the Mold smell and keep it at bay so that was a plus

CONS and Issues: -The place underwent renovation due to mildew and/or mold at some point and paint was used to hide imperfections in the sick home. I have allergies and could smell the minute we entered the foyer. Many air cleaning units running up and downstairs. The filters had not been changed.

-The Dehumidifier unit on the top floor was off - but when I went to turn it on - it was FULL and the water started to spill and was not checked before we came to stay for 2 nights.

The upstairs bathroom vent was blowing against the tile bath above the toilet and the dust and mold spores were stuck to the wall. It was hard to stomach as I have lived through mold remediation and it is not fun for me or my lungs.

The bath jacuzzi jets looked amazing- I started the bath and when I turned on the jets once the water was OVER them they put out black stuff in the water and it was not good for me to soak.

The one night we had a nice dinner for Christmas planned, the water was not hot. It was a fluke but was upsetting as I had a nice plan for my sweetie and I, and we could not shower and had to change our clothes from biking. :(. Water was fine the next morning. Upstairs vents in the bath were black with some residual mold from a past life and the MB downstairs room vent was showing signs of mold and build-up that blew all day.

Loud neighbors for the holiday break but not a problem at all as others close by are nice and accommodating

We asked for a small % refund and Chris asked her brother and NEVER got back to us and when we asked to do a review they declined and did not send the link.

I want to say a big Thank You to Mark from beginning to end throughout the booking process of this property. It was smooth sailing from the day I requested to book to the day we arrived. Excellent communication from Mark with detailed information on how to check in, check out, and full of other important information. I asked a lot of questions, and Mark always answered them promptly.

My wife and I stayed from 4/27 to 5/3. We just arrived back home 4 hours ago, and now I am writing this review because its all worth it. We were able to meet Mark's wife and son. Wonderful family. They were nearby in their own unit, and never intrusive. The unit has a courtyard which is shared by other unit renters. THE COURTYARD IS BEAUTIFUL. Mark did a really nice job with all the decors. We felt like we were in a nature private getaway due to the way the palm trees etc were set up in the courtyard. Very green and nature like. There were two grills, tables, chairs. grilling utensils etc. Just enough for everyone to enjoy themselves. My wife and I was able to grill out two meals while we were there. Even though the courtyard are shared with other units, every time we were in the courtyard to grill, or hangout, it was just us. Very private feel.

The kitchen is beautiful with nice appliances, quality granite counters, and great looking cabinets. All the cooking utensils are there with spices, virgin oil, pots, pans, and so on. My wife was able to cook us dinner for two of the nights there. The bed was very comfortable!! There are tvs in every room. The main living room has a 50" tv. Wifi works fast! I was mainly using wifi whenever I am in the unit. It has great range too because when I was in the courtyard, I was able to pick up the signal from there.

Other items like beach towels, bath towels, soap, shampoo etc were provided. Also, beach umbrellas, beach chairs, beach cart were provided as well for beach activities. The beach is right across the street from the unit. Basically the property is near the beach, local restaurants, and shops. Great location!! My wife and I love traveling, and honestly this property is one of the best we stayed at. Clean, quiet, comfortable, convenient.

I am very grateful to have find this rental, and can't thank Mark enough throughout the entire process. Thank you for opening up your doors for us. We greatly appreciated it! We will be back for sure! 5...
