I had a dress that was large in the bust and was told Jan's is the best in town, and according to reviews on google it certainly seemed like a great recommendation. When I called to see if she even had time to do the alteration seeing as I was pressed for time and didn't want to inconvenience her, she was very rude over the phone and said "just come in." So I did, from the second I walked in, extremely rude and judging comments started, she also made my mom and I feel very unwelcomed and that we were an agrivation to her day. I explained that I needed the bust taken in and the dress fits well everywhere else even considering my big baby bump. She literally said and I quote, "why don't you wait until after "that thing" (referring to my unborn child) comes out before wearing a dress like this?" I tried my best to ignore and move past the comment and just told her if she didn't have time to do it that's fine I could go elsewhere, I was just told shes the best so I figured I'd try her first. I put the dress on, and as she is looking at the bust situation she continues to make extremely rude comments about my baby bump and the dress, finally I could not hold it together anymore and begged my mom to help me out of the dress so we could leave. Jan pushes my mom away from the dressing room and Jan goes in there with me to help with the dress because she can now see that she pissed me off, and even after telling her to "leave the room please so I can change" she wouldn't listen. I walked out of her shop maybe half way dressed and drove off as fast as I could. This experience was most definitely not a reflection of pregnancy hormones to anyone who might already be thinking that. It is a clear reflection of horrible customer service. Regardless of how long she has been in the business or how great of seamstress she may be, there is no excuse for this type behavior. Her unsolicited "advice" and comments were not warranted, and I will not recommend...
Read moreNot impressed. I brought Jan in a sweater that needed to be taken in and a leather jacket with arms that needed to be shortened. She took a MONTH to get them done because "she's so busy with weddings" after telling me two weeks (which is already quite a long time for tailoring, btw.) This made me feel unvalued (and quite frankly, unwanted) as a first time customer. Plan your work better because that shouldn't have impacted me; I brought my stuff in with plenty of time.
She kept telling me how "hard" these items were to work on (they're not, speaking as someone who sews but didn't feel like doing it myself) and charged me almost $200 for both, when it should have been MAYBE $100. I know this because I've had the same sweater (in a different color) and all my other leather jackets done with the same types of tailoring.
I will not be coming back; I will take my stuff to Silverdale or continue bringing it to my excellent tailor down in Fullerton CA when I visit family there--who does insanely complicated stuff (he's a master tailor) for reasonable prices. Do...
Read moreI went to Jan's business early in February as my son's almost brand-new coat had a bad zipper (and alterations to a pair of slacks as well). I paid her $67 for the alteratios. Well, in March (coat still not done after 5 weeks) she had to shut down because of the pandemic. Understandable.
What is not understandable is that she could easily have closed her doors and finished the alterations without opening to customers. I could then have done a porch pickup. Nope! And didn't return my money either.
I called and she assured me the alterations would be done soon. I contacted her again last week and she said she was going to the shop and bring the clothes to her home. (Why couldn't she have done that four months ago?) However, no call and no altered/repaired clothes.
I am severely disabled and this has caused me a lot of anguish. As far as I'm concerned, she is totally unprofessional and unethical. As soon as it's safe, I intent to file a small...
