I used to babysit for a family that lived about 2 minutes from Evegreen Park, and I loved the huge amount of time I got to spend there! 🌲
The fact that it is an inclusive, accessible park is really neat to me - I appreciate when the county makes an effort in that way. The play structures are unique and fun to look at, and there is room for everyone to play, even on extremely crowded days - and BOY can it get crowded!
My one complaint, and the reason this park only gets 4 out of 5 stars, is that the bathroom situation is appalling. I know it is a common problem in park bathrooms, but it is cold, dark, and filthy. Only one of the two stalls had a lock over the course of the two years I visited the park. There are no paper towels or hand dryers. The changing table is gross and also cannot accommodate bigger children. The 4 y/o I babysat was literally too scared to use the bathroom there. A park can only be so accessible if the bathroom isn’t in shape to be used by disabled children and their families, and this bathroom absolutely is not.
Outside of that, this is a great park with a lovely waterside view and beach access on low tide days, and I would...
Read moreGreat place to take the kids Unfortunately they won't quit begging me to take them there they love it it's awesome I love the playground they love going to the beach and looking for crabs even though they won't touch them and they cry like babies when I try to hand them one. When did the park today and the last 3 days there hasn't been no poop bags I have been having to bring grocery bags with me to clean up after my dog because the park does not care about cleanliness or safety really sucks that they won't put the stuff down here that we need to provide for our animals whether it's clean up and watering them over in front of the boat Shed Restaurant they have this awesome water fountain that has a bowl at the bottom that you can fill up with water to feed your dog water and then it has a water bottle spell to fill up your water bottle it's got a water fountain spell to get a drink of water why doesn't Evergreen have this Evergreen is a much more well-known Park than the tiny little patch of grass in front of the boat...
Read moreAs a most of my lifelong resident of Kitsap, I have seen our slice of the world improve. And Evergreen park is one of the more impressive improvements. The green scaping has been exceptional and the person who maintains it should get notice for such impressive and rich in every detail to give us all a jewel in our crown. Evergreen park has much more than ever before. Also, with the installed 9/11 memorial and relics that are such a great addition, the clever and beautifully unique the 9/11 story is laid out in the memorial itself is a reason in itself to visit. Do stand in the center of it. I said a little prayer outloud and it was most assuredly heard by my angels. Because of the formation of the memorial, a micro ampitheater has been created. For any outside occasions or just to gather with a friend to visit comfortabllly and with social distancing the simple and attractive wrapping sidewalk is a delight and can easily be the tour guide...
