The New Hampshire Marathon — Local services in Bristol

I love starting from the middle school and having a shower after. The Masonic Lodge spaghetti dinner was absolutely fabulous taste and price! The course was more hilly than I expected but beautiful scenery. The shuttle bus to the half marathon line was great. There was not a lot of crowd support on the course but the volunteers were great! A well-organized HomeTown event! The free beer at Kathleen's Pub was good but the service was not as we waited for over 40 minutes after asking a few times about our food only to be told it was still going to be a long wait and we had to leave earlier than we wanted because we were driving to Portland to participate in the marathon the next day. Great event, well-organized with great start and finish line logistics. A little hairy with roads not being closed during the race, but locals seemed to know what was going on and were accommodating - lots of signs on the course saying to be aware of runners. Scenic, well-marked course with accurate mile markers and helpful water stops and course marshals. Everyone very friendly. Hills make for a bit of a challenge, but weren't too bad. Great lake view. Awesome volunteers. Impressively organized. For half-marathon, upto 9 mile point, it's constant rolling hills. For full marathoner, if you want to qualify for Boston Marathon, those hills might slow...
