I am not from the area, but I go there frequently. I had been waiting to try out the rib room as I heard it was pretty good. I understand that it just recently opened and there's always a learning curve But, I have to say I was not super impressed. As for the learning curve, the young lady that was serving us did an adequate job, but I had to get up a couple times and ask Her for things like butter. She didn't bring any to the table, and she had her back to the dining area while she was talking with the other staff, so she didn't see me trying to get her attention. The food was very good, but I felt like the serving was pretty small. I got the spare ribs baked beans and corn bread with iced tea. I felt like the portions were pretty small, (picture) that was $30. before tip. My drink was in a very flimsy plastic cup and my food was on a paper plate. I can go right up the road to Homestead and get a great meal on real plates for the same money.
I think I will eventually try it again. But I'm gonna give them time to figure some stuff out.
Update: I don't see a way to reply to your response so I'm adding this, My original did have 3 stars because I made an error when doing the review and also my friend reminded me of some issues like being told just go in and someone will seat you and we stood there while the young lady the eventually was to be our server walked past us at least 3 times looked right at us, smiled and kept on going. There was maybe 6 other people in there and they were all sitting already. There were a good amount of empty seats. And the flimsy plastic cup that all but caves in when you pick it up to drink.
The second picture is $28. Worth of food at little Mark's BBQ in Vernon CT. 1/2 a chicken and half rack of ribs. Actual...
Read moreThe Purple Pit has been around for a while now, but they've just begun to offer dinner in their back room in the past week. Having been a fairly regular customer since moving to the area, I knew I had to try their new barbecue offerings. While we all know that their coffees, pastries, and sandwiches are fresh and fantastic, it's their entry into the world of barbecue that really piqued my interest. On Saturday I placed an order for the brisket dinner and two sides. Let's just say that if you are a fan of barbecue, you HAVE TO give the Rib Room at the Purple Pit a try! Tender and delicious brisket you can cut with your fork awaits you. And the homemade macaroni and cheese is excellent! Along with these items, I got the baked beans. These are absolutely homemade and very tasty, too. There was enough food to make two meals. For someone larger than myself, it might be just enough for one meal. But as I said, I got two meals out of it. The brisket dinner was $26 + tax. Go to the Pit. I believe they'll win you over. If you are looking for a new dinner spot, give them a try on either Friday or Saturday night from...
Read moreSecond time here, and it is a nice little shop with a good vibe. What a coffee shop should have.
Not thrilled with the paper take out cups, but it goes along with the coffee carafes, to pump your own coffee. Like Cumberland Farms and the like. Really brings down the coffee shop (café) experience.
Ordered a medium "cappuccino". Again in paper cup, and must have been about 10-12 oz of coffee! It should be more like 6oz (double shot)of coffee. It was weak (~half strength), and so hot it scalded my mouth which I could feel the next day. Wife noted her coffee was also on the weak side.
The croissant sandwiches were very good. Coffee, if I could rate it, a 2. Note, the (stock) photos of coffee cups on their website are not what you get. There is one-slide showing...
