What's not to like? Costco treats its employees well, which makes it worth committing to and also makes for a friendly staff. Prices on certain items, like the $5 rotisserie chicken ( the plumpest and juiciest in town), make them the best bargains around. Bargains include $15.50 for 2-1/2/pound Starbuck's whole bean French roast coffee, $5.50 for 8 pounds of Ruby red grapefruit, and the lowest prices on generic drugs. Electronics too, of course and Costco doubles all warranties. Oh, and an excellent optical department.
Update March 2022: Frozen Barramundi filets from Australia and frozen cod filets from Norway are regularly in stock and excellent.
Update August 2022: Kirkland branded products fully stocked and so much less expensive than name brands. Cases in point: K sparkling water vs. LaCroix, K sports drink vs. Gatorade. Just as good.
Update September 2022:
Kirkland sparkling water has been out of stock for a while. But so many other great Kirkland brand products are available; current favorite is their no fat Greek style yogurt: thick, creamy, full of protein, no added sugar.
Update November 2022:
6 avocadoes for $4.70; reliably good. Also need to recommend the Alaska wild caught sockeye filets and salmon burger patties--the patties are a genuine bargain, and with both you avoid the farmed Pacific salmon Costco also sells (and most stores only stock).
Update January 2023:
Frozen cod caught in Norway continues to be a bargain (look up "Bang Bang cod" recipe for a delicious Asian spin on preparation). The multi grain 2-pack of bread is also great -- slice and home and freeze what you can't use in a few days. Unsweetened cartons of Kirkland brand almond milk are a current favorite.
June 2023:
Odd fruit inventory absences on this trip to the Brookhaven Costco: no organic blueberries, no grapes, no strawberries, raspberries, etc. Also no spinach.
Wish Costco would stock better quality dry goods in some areas: why Movie time microwave popcorn and Kodiak pancake mix instead of better, healthier alternatives? Otherwise what I've said above about excellent products still pertains.
August 2023 update:
$5 discount on Trident salmon burgers -- far healthier than beef. Case of Penn tennis balls are about half the price found at amazon. Many similar deals if you take the time to compare.
October 2023 update:
Roast whole chicken still $6.99, though in last 2 years 35 pack of Kirkland flavored soda has increased from $7 to $11.
December 28 2023 update:
Turbotax is now on discount; about $12 off the Deluxe version.
May 1 update: Starbucks French roast beans $5 off; grapefruit right now is tasting great; Seite casava chips on big sale; many more. Good quantities of everything.
July 2024 update:
The Brookhaven store is well stocked with many great discounted food values, including Peet's whole bean French roast and line caught wild albacore.
Update July 2025:
Brookhaven Costco is well stocked with great value clothing, electronics, food and wine. Bargains galore: a case of Penn tennis balls, to take just one example, is half the price charged by Dick's Sporting Goods. Right now in the frozen food section; Alaska black cod ( sablefish), one of the great Alaskan white fish...

Read moreUnfortunately, such a beautiful store left me with a terrible first impression. I have been an Avid Costco consumer since my mother shopped here when I was a child and now that I am an adult and a member, it’s my happy go to place for pretty much everything I need. Today was my first time shopping at the Brookhaven location. I’m newly transplanted from Maryland and needed to order my son’s birthday cake. Unfortunately there aren’t any Costco’s near me so I ordered the cake at the Brookhaven location so that my husband could pick it up on his way home from work (he works in Brookhaven). I was also hoping to add my husband onto our membership while there because it’s too far for me to pick up the cake. I could not add him to the membership because my father, who is also an avid shopper at Costco, is on my membership as well. I was told that I could only have two people on my membership and that I could only pick up the birthday cake. THAT IS FINE. What ended my experience on a sour note is HOW I was told No....which is exactly how I was told No. Gradie, the Manager, was vehemently cold and dismissive of me and my concern and dilemma. So much so that the young lady, who was being very accommodating, noticed his abrasiveness as well and was intimidated by his response. It’s one thing to tell a customer no, but how you turn the customer down can make a difference in whether that customer remains with you or joins your competitor. I will never shop at the Brookhaven location so long as he remains the manager and will encourage many of my friends who a business members, no to do so as well. I spend too much money at Costco to be treated with anything less than the respect that a loyal consumer is due. I intend to forward this complaint further until his behavior is admonished and I receive an apology. I hope you never need any assistance by a manager while he is the manager on duty because you just may experience the same...
