Art of Men’s used to be fantastic. We have used them for about four years now. But the last two times we’ve used them have not been good experiences.
The first time, the haircut wasn’t great. It was uneven, so I had to fix it at home, and the appointment felt very rushed. I tried to pay for the haircut with my debit card, only to be told that they no longer accept cards- that it’s cash only but that I can make my next appointment online and pay that way. So I had to use the ATM there. Even though the haircut wasn’t so good that time, I gave the barber the benefit of the doubt because it was a kid’s haircut, which can be a little more difficult at times. Also, our previous favorite barber was not available for appointments, so we decided to see the new barber again and give him another shot.
A couple months later, I scheduled my son for another haircut with the same barber. I scheduled the appointment online and paid online. I arrived to the appointment only to be told once again that they don’t take debit cards. I didn’t understand because my payment had been accepted prior to the appointment, but when I got there, the barber said he cancelled my payment and that I’d have to pay with cash. So I used the ATM again, and of course I was charged another fee. But this was actually the least of my worries. I told the barber exactly what I wanted, I showed him pictures for inspiration, and specifically told him that I wanted my son’s hair left as long as possible on the top. I likened the haircut we wanted to Justin Bieber’s old haircut. He repeated it back to me and told me he understood. But he kept cutting. And cutting. I’m sure he could see how horrified I looked, but he just kept going. Now my poor baby looks like Kim Jong Un, and with his hair type, his hair is now totally unmanageable. We’re going to have to shave it off. We will not...
Read moreExcellent all men's barber shop. While there are other barber shops in the area that charge less, this place is different in the overall attitude of the barbers and the enviroment of the place. The place has done a great job in putting a modern spin on the barber shops of yesteryear. The only place I know of in the area that does full on straight razor shaves, complete with hot/cold towels. The shave will set you back $40, but takes an hour to do. 99.9% of young guys have never had the enjoyment of shaving like their grandpa, let only having a trained barber shave for them. In our rushed world, we have taken the smaller enjoyments, like the art of shaving, and traded them in for our 2 minute disposable shave. Treat yourself. You won't regret it.
As for the cuts, this place seems to specialize in old school cuts that have made a comeback in the past few years. The traditional gentlemen cuts. These are the haircuts I like, so this place is right up my alley.
If you are looking for a laid back back that falls happily between the good ole' boy barber shops and the upscale lady salon joints, you will be happy...
