Its deffinitely a great site and a good experience. Very inspiring. However its pretty much a "stop for a break" NOT "a destination" anymore. I realize we are all very worried about public safety, but this has been relegated to a "see only" not an experience you can take home.. ie: No bathrooms or porta-potties. Access to the even the edge of the river downstream is sourounded by no trespassing private property signs. You can see it from a lookout platform. As compared to years past, you could "walk on the pothole rocks", get to the water and feel the invigorating spray on your face, and generally take in the experience. Those days are gone. But, still a neat site to behold if UR in the area, esp in mid-spring when the flow is roaring!

Just to the left of Bridge Street, before the bridge- make sure you don’t forget to see the Glacial Potholes if you’ve stopped in to Shelburne Falls for the Bridge of Flowers. The potholes were formed by small stones grinding the bedrock while they were stuck in the rushing whirlpools of receding glaciers. There’s an observation deck to view the area from, and you can take it all in pretty quick. Shelburne Falls is a great stop if you are heading out to Western, Mass on Route 2

We stopped on this trip at the same time we had gone to see the bridge of flowers; it had been years since I had been here. As a young adult I remember it being very engaging, we would all scramble on the rocks and enjoy the potholes in the summer. It is now a viewing area which was still nice to see for the kids. I think spring would be the best time to see this nature in action area and the power of the water, although late summer and earl evenings used to make this a destination point for people looking for some evening fun and a way to cool off by being near the water -...

It is one of the nicest places. There is such a calm and peaceful atmosphere around this whole area. I have been here many times in the past years. Just love to drive up and walk around. The dam and Shelburne Falls are beautiful with the pot holes. There is also the Bridge of Flowers is fantastic 3 season out of 4. The people are so friendly. I've been in many of the stores and had wonderful experiences. Would definitely recommend this place a small town environment. If your into hiking there are a few trails. Never been but heard...
