Just wanted to share about an employee that was really great! We visited last night Sunday 11/10/24 at about 5:30 -6pm. Used the self checkout service, the employee was a young man maybe in his early 20's (could have been late teens) reddish blonde hair, very kind.
If you, or your employer or whoever raised you ever read this, I hope they/you feel proud. It's well deserved and we appreciated you
He went above and beyond to be sure our scanned sale items were correct. We purchased the ice cream that was B1G1 free, we purchased 4 and only 1 came off,the made sure we received the other item. Also, we didn't realize that cost of a Sarris box of Buckeye's until I scanned them. They were $17.99!!!! I was shocked! He never flinched an eye when, in my horror, I asked if he could remove the item, he actually interacted with us in an extremely professional manner by doing his job quickly and discreetly, speaking to us about how he would like to also purchase those, but the price of the Sarris keeps rising. Very intelligent young man. On top of that the system "froze" after I completed my scanning and bagging, prior to payment. Mind you, I had my husband, 9yo autistic, ADHD son and 12yo preteen daughter with me, who were ALL ready to leave within the first 2 aisles of shopping š©. He handled it all with grace and courage! A smile on his face the entire time he came right over and tried to fix it. It didn't work out, he took the transaction to his station and zapped it in, his entire process was finished in a matter of a minute, where it would have taken me another 30 minutes to unpack and rescan everything. My kiddos were even complaining the entire time and he never batted an eye at them or my husband or myself, he waited until he turned away! I love that!! I've worked as a nurse for over 30 years and I know the feeling of just wanting to be "DONE", BUT not being able to be done, so you have to muster on. He was able to release his frustrations without jeopardizing his professional conduct, kudos dude! Keep it up! We even joked as we left, I said to him in a playful manner.. "Don't have kids, it's a trap " as I smiled, he said "Not anytime soon." Smiling back. You have an exceptional employee there, management material, leadership skills. I see him going very far in a role that is made for greatness. He should be in a position to train others, or the very least, in HR as a training manager if your company has a position like that or a Hiring manager, I bet he could "weed" out the bad ones and your store...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was really nicely surprised by this giant eagle! I had to pop in on my way to church. I stopped for just some quick Necessities like mints, cough drops, and I had forgotten my Burt's Bees lip gloss. LOL I have to have my lip gloss all the time. Not only was I surprised by the prices of this Giant Eagle compared to the ones in Erie Pennsylvania, but I was extremely impressed with the employees. As I was getting ready to check out a gentleman who worked there saw that I was sort of searching around and asked me if I needed anything. I said, "I'm just trying to figure out how to get over to grab a pack of mints while I'm in this line, which is the only line that doesn't have mints in it!" He immediately asked me what type of mints I wanted and went about grabbing me a pack of mints and handing them to me and then asked me if that was the right flavor and if not he could get me something else. The young man at the front of the store where I needed to grab a disabled scooter cart was super friendly, asking if I needed any help and if I knew how to use the cart. He said they were new carts and he wanted to make sure I realized they're a little different than the old ones. I assured him that unless I went flying out the front window I'd be okay. He laughed! On my way out, he looked at me and said, "Look at you, you didn't even go through a window!" LOL I wish that the Erie Giant Eagles would have this type of customer service, happy & helpful employees, and prices! Not to mention that the plaza it's in is nicely surfaced! No huge holes and Grand Canyons to drive into with your car! Probably one of my best Giant Eagle experiences ever! I don't shop regularly at Giant Eagle in Erie, Pennsylvania, but if they were all like this, I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't enjoy leaving bad reviews for companies, but after several horrible customer service events, I feel it is time to do so. The first one I will write about happened at Christmas time. I called and spoke to two people about a veggie tray and a fruit tray. I wanted them made FRESH. I told both people that I absolutely did not want the died-out premade old-looking trays. Both employees told me that my trays would be made fresh. Oddly enough, when we went to get them, they handed me two nasty-looking premade trays. The excuse was they did not have the items to make them fresh??? You are a grocery store? What, no fruit or veggies to sell that day? What a ridiculous excuse. Later, I found out that they do this to many people. So, not to bore you with many other events, I will move on to today. I had two presciptions called in from my doctor. We waited over an hour to go pick them up, and when we got there, they told my husband they did not have one prescription, and he would have to come back in thirty minutes for the other. When he returned 45 minutes later, he was told it would take another thirty minutes. When I called the pharmacist to cancel them, I was put on hold for over 15 minutes. When I told Travis that we were canceling and why there was no apology of any sort, he told me very politely good enough; it's OK with him if we don't come back. Giant Eagle, YOU CAN...
