Have been coming to this store for years. When Emil is present it's a pleasant experience. He was not there today and it was quite an miserable experience because a poor, unfriendly attitude of who was behind the counter, the son I believe.
Today, we walked into this store which was an unpleasant experience. I believe it was the son working there. He did not say a word, not hello, or can I help you. Silence. I was looking in a section of comics, there were a bunch of tshirts strewn on top so you could not see some of the comics. In the area of used books for sale, there were boxes in to the way so you couldn't see those either. Not once did the employee ever say can I help you when he could clearly see we weren't able to see the things we might have purchased. . Someone else found a book with no price so they asked the person behind the counter. He said that's not priced. No kidding, we know that. That's why we were asking, to get a price and possibly purchase it. That's all he said. He could have given a price and sold it. No sale! As we walked around this whole store, whoever was working this day said nothing. Also, there was not another soul in this store at this time.
Sadly, I would not return to this store because of the condition of the store, the poor attitude, unprofessionalism, unfriendliness of the owners son. This is not the way to run a business. We left this store with no purchases and the owner's son can thank himself for that. He didn't even say thanks for stopping by or have a nice day. Nothing....
Read moreI finally found this comic book store! Back in 2009, I was a foreign student studying in Buffalo, and I wanted to get my hands on a particular comic book issue that was being released at the time. I made my way down to Queen City Bookstore in the dead of winter, only to be told that the particular issue had yet to be released. Someone at the front desk told me to come back in a day or two instead.
Two days later, I once again braved the Buffalo winter and arrived at the bookstore. The man at the counter told me that the issue had arrived, but it was already sold out. Just as I was about to leave, he pulled the last issue out from below the counter and told me that, since he knew I was coming back, he had saved a copy for me.
This is the best comic book shop I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Actually, this is the first review that I have ever left on Google Maps. I know it is a long time ago, but I'd just like to say that I am very appreciative of your service here. I still have the issue of comic book all the way here in Singapore!...
Read moreCool back issues of comics and some really well preserved ones but each time I've gone in there the owner/workers have been rude and unpleasant. The first time was when I called was to see about comic book boxes and was very rudely told "I hope we'd have them as a comic store". Another time I heard complaints about "comic wokeness". The latest time which had me swearing to not come back was walking in to look around for certain back issues and being asked "What are you looking for?" And when I explained the worker gave me an annoyed look and gestured over to their most expensive back issues and around the store telling me to go look for them before turning and leaving me. I heard him and another worker disparaging a customer when they were off the phone with them with regards to their age and left without buying anything. Good comics, but not a welcoming environment unless you're exactly...
