UPDATE 3/2/20: After additional problems with the insert (not Rattan's fault) and determining that the rattling from the fan was not able to be resolved, the store replaced my entire insert with a new, better unit. I am happy with this resolution. They could have made me go back to the manufacturer to deal with the issues. Thank you. They installed a new gas fireplace in my house at the beginning of December. The custom surround was ordered wrong, and did not fit properly, at a cost of $680. I understand mistakes sometimes happen, but they were in no hurry to fix the situation. They also told me the correct pieces were not available. I had to do the work, research on the internet, and contact the manufacturer MYSELF to confirm that YES, the correct surround WAS available, AND cost at least $300 less than what I had paid for the wrong surround. I gave them the part numbers and they ordered it. They didn't expedite it or anything. It was finally installed at the beginning of March.

I went the majority of the winter without my new fireplace in a usable state, and I still have not gotten a refund for the price difference for the surround. The blower fan is also not working properly, and I want to get this resolved before shutting off the pilot for the season, so I don't have to deal with these people next year.

I have contacted Pete in writing several times, and called and spoke to Ron (the owner, who basically seemed unconcerned) who assured me Pete would call me back yesterday. He didn't. I'm at my last straw with these people. I just want the fireplace that I paid for 7 months ago to be in working order, and a refund for the price difference due to...

If you want a professional job done on a gas insert make sure you go to Rattan Patio and Fireplace. This has been a wonderful experience from start to finish. I met with Pete at the store after seeing how lovely my son’s fireplace was and how happy they were with the work done. After speaking with Pete, I knew exactly which way I wanted to go for my house. I got a gas insert for my living room and the same one for my basement, along with the blower since I don’t have any heat down there. I was thrilled with the model Pete recommended. Then, Dan and his crew showed up to install the two units and they did an amazing job. My house is older and the stone around my living room fireplace was not touched at all and Dan was able to hide all piping and gas lines through the back of the fireplace. Downstairs I have stone and brick and Dan and crew did an amazing job saving all the masonry work and keeping the entire area clean and patched any wall area they opened. People wouldn’t even know they put a hole in the wall area that they did. Dan had to hook into my electric work for the blower and the way he did it looked fabulous. The entire experience was an A+++. If you want clean professionals and people who know what they are doing from start to finish don’t hesitate to go with Rattan Patio and Fireplace. Very positive experience, can’t say enough about this place! From the minute I stepped inside the store to the delivery of my new patio set, the service has been nothing but top notch. My daughter & I were given recommendations of this store in the parking lot of another patio store and I must say the 50 minute drive was well worth it. I felt bad getting there 15 minutes before closing due to unforeseen traffic, but Ron was so polite and helpful. He did not rush me even though it was past closing time! It is a family owned business and they take pride in the products that they sell. There was no sales pressure and I left that night feeling really good about my visit. The next day when I called to order the set, Ron was off and Pete was equally nice and accommodating. He gave me a delivery date and emailed me an invoice and told me that I could give my check since I was paying by check to the delivery guy upon delivery of the set. Today the furniture was delivered and once again top notch service. The young gentleman Tyler was extremely polite and set up everything on my deck, he even put my umbrella in the stand!
