I have been a steadfast Kohls customer for 20 years. With the exception of one suit, all of the clothes I've purchased has come from this chain.
I was happy to hear the Burlington location was open again, as I have a few pairs of jeans and shorts that are showing their age, and I would have liked to retire them.
I drove the ~25 minutes to the store, spent about 20 minutes finding a few things in sizes that would hopefully fit... and then found out all fitting rooms are closed.
The cashier politely and cheerfully told me if something didn't fit, I could return it or exchange it at no fee. This is not something new, this has been their policy. Unfortunately, it's also really not ideal with the drive time in mind.
"Don't you know what sizes you wear?" Yes, but when clothing manufacturers are not consistent across each other... and sometimes even the same brand. Yes, I once bought two same-brand, same-style, same-size-labeled pairs of dress slacks once. Tried one on there, they fit, the other pair was far from fitting. So now I don't buy unless I can try it on.
The door into the store notified people about the capacity limit, and a sign in the store strongly recommended masks... if one of these had said "fitting rooms closed", I would have saved myself 20 minutes.
I guess I'm going to learn how to sew in the meantime, and use some of my not-quite-good-enough-for-work-anymore slacks as casual pants in my jean rotation.
I'm sure I'll be back... but I'll call ahead next time to make sure the fitting...

I found a hard to find color of an Adidas T shirt at Kohl's Salisbury (50 miles from Greensboro). I purchased the wrong size and after searching the Kohl's website it said the shirt was in Burlington. Upon arriving, I realized I did not have my receipt. I went to Customer Service and spoke with Roxe and she was so polite and assured me it was no problem to exchange. I could not find the shirt and assumed it was not there. I asked Chanelle if she could check another store for availability. Chanelle was super attentive by not only checking the system for availability, but worked with Jim to find the shirt in the store. Mediocre customer service would have apologized and blamed the error on the system. Super customer worked together as a team, trusted their inventory system was correct, found the shirt and did it all with such positive , customer-centered energy. I certainly...
Read moreSunday evening my family and I went shopping for my wife's birthday. We had no idea we would have wound up at Kohl's, but I'm really glad we did. To begin with, we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff that was working that night. Secondly, we were treated with respect throughout our entire shopping experience. And finally, when checking out, we were helped by the kindest and most passionate sales associate I've ever encountered. She took her time with our purchase and never did we feel like we were being sold anything. It felt more like we were making an exchange with family. With all the challenges we face today and in spite of the pandemic, it's hard to find honest individuals like the woman who assisted us. Thank you Roxie! You and your coworkers are true...
