We saw The Peach Cobbler Factory one afternoon driving through Alamance Crossing and, intrigued, made a metal note to check it out. They had me at cobbler. We eventually went in and the shop was clean and the clerk was welcoming and friendly. There were no seats anywhere inside, but not a problem as we were not staying. We ordered the strawberry cobbler, the churros, and 6 cookies. I had thought about ordering a drink but was glad I didn't when we were presented with a $50 surprise. I thought, "Alrighty, then...", paid, and proceeded to expect a lot of desserty goodness. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the lack of seating came into play as my wife had to go back to the car to sit down. 10 minutes later, I was informed that the churros had to go in the oven and that's what was taking so long. Churros. Oven. Ok. After a total of 25 minutes, I was given my order and sent on my way.
The food. The strawberry cobbler was separate from the ice cream which was understandable and preferable since we had to drive home. The fruit had a distinct canned flavor that wasn't pleasant. And there was a lot of crust, and that's from someone who likes a lot of crust. And it was so dry that the icey ice cream would not touch it. The churros were weirdly chewy. The clerk's remark about the oven was making more sense now. Had it not been for the tablespoon of Nutella on the side, they would have been inedible. I don't even want to talk about the cookies, but since they comprised 2/3 of our bill, I guess I'll have to. We got 3 plain chocolate chip and 3 covered cookies. The plain cookies were ridiculously stale. A short blast in the microwave was the only thing that allowed me to actually taste them. The covered cookies were slightly less stale but very sweet. I mean aggressively sweet. I'm sorry to say that every single item ended up in the trash.
I wanted so much to like this place. I really did. As I said, they had me at cobbler. If the food had been good, I wouldn't have balked too much at the price. If the price wasn't so astronomically high, I could have allowed a little grace on the food quality. But I can't support expensive, inedible food. I can't envision a world where I would return to or recommend The Peach...

This was my first time at The Peach Cobbler Factory ever; Iâve heard about the different locations but wasnât in a rush to visit. I ordered a small Plain Jane peach cobbler (with extra crustđ) for my drive back to VA. My order came out in a timely fashion, warm, and packaged so well. Although I asked that the ice cream not be included (comes with each order, anyway), it was still included. It was probably done out of habit but I still appreciated the gesture; just in case I wouldâve wanted the ice cream later.
I actually couldâve done without the extra crust because I didnât like the mouthfeel of it. Seems like the crust mightâve been made with oil instead of real butter. The sweetness of the fruit filling worked well with its blandness though. I also didnât like the flavor of the ice cream either. It was more dairy forward with a slight vanilla taste at the end. The cinnamon sugar (or maybe just cinnamon, idr) on top was a nice addition. Even though I ordered a small, the amount can be shared between two or saved for later. Of course, my gripes were not due to the retailer. Iâm sure that there are recipes and standards to follow because it is a chain however, this concept is one that I wouldnât frequent often as Iâm not a fan of the commercialized chains. I did see some other flavor combos that Iâd try so maybe Iâll have a change of heart thenâŚ
Generally speaking, this is a great concept for when youâre looking to fulfill your sweet tooth with cobblers and puddings specifically. There are other menu items such as waffles, cookies, cinnamon rolls, churros, brownies, shakes and drinks but I personally wouldnât go to The Cobbler Factory for anything outside of a cobbler or...
Read moreExpressing my disappointment with the Peach Cobbler Factory in Burlington, NC, is an understatement. Initially, I was delighted by the peach cobbler a family member brought from there, so I decided to visit the shop myself. I ordered peach cobbler for myself and banana pudding for my daughter. Although my daughter enjoyed the banana pudding (I didn't taste it), my peach cobbler lacked moisture and had minimal fruit filling. Despite this, I gave them another chance, thinking this experience must have been an anomaly. During my second in store visit, I ordered strawberry cobbler, cherry cobbler, 2 banana puddings, extra ice cream, and a cinnamon roll. While my daughter liked the cinnamon roll, both cobblers were lacking in fruit filling, and the crust was again hard. The banana puddings were mushy, and the bourbon pecan banana pudding had an excessive amount of brown sugar just dumped on. Considering the $8 price tag per order, one would expect ample fruit filling and a softer crust. Cobbler is my favorite dessert. So I went back one last time, hoping to recapture the deliciousness of the first experience my cousin shared. Unfortunately, the cup of peach cobbler I received again had a tough crust and minimal fruit filling. In retrospect, I wish I had read other reviews before returning multiple times. It turns out that others have faced the same issue with sparse filling and hard crust. This has been a costly lesson, but it's one I've learned. I've reverted to my simple internet peach cobbler recipe (in fact, I'm making it today); 1/2 cup butter-melted, 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon baking powder, one 15 oz. can of sliced peaches. The concept of a cobbler factory is promising, but it definitely requires more fruit filling and less cooking time before I would consider paying $8 for a...
