I have been an Ace Hardware guy my entire life and I "did" like the store a lot but I will not spend another dime at the butte ace hardware.
I had purchased a piece of power equipment and needed to return it because I had used it for 10 minutes and there was nuts and bolts falling off of it, the belt was mounted wrong and was smoking, I had to fix all these issues myself and I didn't want any further issues with this, so I decided to return it. So when I returned it they brought down the manager who... to make a long story short was unbelievably rude and frank with me threw the entire process. So after I had left the store I decided to call the manager who was rude to me to see if there was something I had done wrong or what the issue was and why "the manager" treated me like he did.
I was baffled by what he said to me, he "literally said word for word" that "I had ran the machine for longer than the 10 minutes I had claimed and there was some dishonesty there, and that he was a great manager and all of his customers knew that and if I had shopped there before I would of known that," This is besides the point but I have spent over 1500 dollars there in just the last 2 months. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH HER MANAGER SHE ROLLED HER EYES AND SAID "WHATEVER" AND TRIED TO ACT LIKE THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. AGAIN I ASKED FOR THE MANAGER, AN UNCONCERNED MANAGER FINALLY APPROACHED AND RESOLVED THE ISSUE BY OVERWRITING HER REQUEST TO DENY CASH BACK. SHE WAITED UNTILL HE WALKED AWAY TO SLAM THE REFUNDED AMOUNT ON THE COUNTER INSTEAD OF MY OPEN AND EXTENDED HAND.
UPON LEAVING BUTTE MONTANAS ACE HARDWARE I COULDNT HELP BUT NOTICE HER SNICKERING AMONGST COWORKERS, I ASSUME ABOUT MY INCOMPETENCE AS A LOYAL ACE HARDWARE CUSTOMER.    Read moreBuyer be warned Ace Hardwares have different return policies. Donât expect to buy something at one Ace Hardware and be able to return it at another. Itâs especially frustrating when said return policy is not posted near the registers or online. I drove an hour to return an item (after checking both my receipt which said the item was returnable and goggling the Ace return policy just to be sure as I did not want to waste my time)â only to be handled quite rudely by the store manager that they wouldnât return the item. Nowhere near the register or on the storeâs own website does it say they wonât return items. I would have be pleased with an exchange or a store credit. Instead I drove to Murdochs and spent nearly $400 on drip irrigation and hosing. The Belgrade Ace was extremely accommodating, so Iâll be returning my item there and purchasing more items from it.
