This review is an ode to my pops and WU. WU and hunting has been a part of my life even before I was born. My family, the Alcantar family, have been founding member since March 1st, 1987. Started with my grandpa, then my dad, and now me. My dad, Mario Alcantar Sr, just passed and WU was an essential part of his life and second family. He made so many connections and friends hunting the properties and some pretty damn good game too. WU was such a big part of his life that I can spot that symbol from a mile away and know there’s family there. Reasons my dad was so successful with game at this club is due to the connections and I’ve seen some reviews and I know times change and properties change. The one thing that never changed was the passion my dad had. He would converse with other members and staff at properties and get the low on everything. Then use his own skills to put together and find the game he was hunting. My dad never shy’d away from helping other members with info or even breaking bread at camp. That was always the most fun meeting other members and meeting back at camp for stories and food. That is the most beautiful part of this club. You don’t need fancy data or reports. You needed to just help each other out when you’re out there and make a friend. My fondest memories with my dad were at properties just me and him sipping on an ice cold diet Dr Pepper. Listening to nature and just being outdoors. I’m grateful my dad was an amazing hunter and he had a skill like no other. I can guarantee the members he came across and made friends with came home with game because of him, or left with an amazing recipe to try from their game. It was sad to make the call to cancel his membership but Manny made the process so easy for me and went out of the way to waive the rest of his membership fees for him. The staff have always been amazing from the office to field. If you’re coming here to the reviews looking to sign up, use this as a YOU SHOULD button. It’s a private hunting club for a reason, you get to hunt privately and with like minded people on beautiful land. WU has great hunts, great properties, and ultimately great members. Next time you’re at a property and want success, be like my dad and just make a friend out there. You never know what could come out of that experience and learn from each other.

I joined Wilderness Unlimited back when it was first formed after the American Sportsman Club went under. Member #88. It was a wonderful club to belong to with lots of properties to go to. I'm sure it's changed some, but if you like the great outdoors and you don't want to go on public lands this club is for you. Work took me out of California so I am no longer a member but I sure miss it. Stay safe and good Hunting!

I was hoping to find a good company for CA big game hunting, so far I've been quite disappointed. I wish they would give you info like harvest stats, success rates, or information of how the population is doing on certain locations, when I ask they say we can't give you any of that info... I've done 6 hunts so far, all turkeys on other property, counted 18 does total on 4 properties, also I saw some sows with piglets, so 6 hunts and not seeing any legal game to harvest = poor management of game, habitat, and hunters. I really think they should cut ties with various properties that are not producing animals and invest in more new properties on a yearly basis or at least rotate properties from year to year. The private camping and fishing is nice, I think this would be a more sustainable resource for them to manage and...

SCAM! SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!!!

The "members" that come and interview are commission paid employees, one inparticular is a serial liar. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING Mike Drozen says to you, he is NOT an old member, hasn't even gone to a WU property. Do not give him a post dated check or CC information to be run "later". He will turn it in, run your info, and lock you into a contract that is basically a scam. If you don't cancel within 3 days, they will NOT let you go until you pay off a year.

They do not put ANY money into their duck clubs. They will LIE at every turn. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!! they are only interested in your $$$. The club has been losing members like crazy and filling their rank by lying to the new folks.

Make no mistake, they are NOT to...
