I wanted to spend my dollars local. I had a bunch of gold jewelry that I didn't wear. And I had some I didn't wear because they required work. I had a plan to scrap the unused and apply that money towards repairs. There was an extra fee for everything, that other jewlers never charged me before. I got very little for my scrap but I was charged a high price for any gold used in repairs. It wasn't suggested that I use white gold for replaced diamond settings, I remembered from past jewlers that it showed off diamonds better. The replaced diamond setting was sharp and scratched my finger. The worse part of the experience was working with a gal who knew nothing about the jewelry business. Although the rest of the staff appeared experienced, I had to go through that gal first. I have other items I'd like to purchase and I'm certain I'll have more repairs needed. Chilson Jewelers is the only place we go to buy jewelry or to fix jewelry. We had two pieces made that Jim was instrumental in the outcome and they are both beautiful. Throughout the years my wedding set had to have many fixes (it was not bought at Chilsons) so finally we decided to take the set and make something very unique. It is beautiful!! It is one of a kind.
