I occasionally need supplies for the upkeep of my cattle ranch. I have a state AG sales tax exemption card and completed the necessary paperwork at this Ace store to receive my tax exemption. I am an honest person and only use my exemption on ranch supplies. Despite this, Higginbotham’s will only allow my tax exemption on items THEY determine to be AG related. For instance, my livestock pipe fence was in need of a new paint job, so I purchased a gallon of paint along with rollers, brushes and other misc painting supplies. The cashier honored the exemption on the paint (only because it was oil based), but refused to honor it on the painting supplies. Makes no sense. Two weeks later, I bought metal braces to reinforce my homemade cattle feeders. Again, Higginbotham’s refused to honor my tax exemption. I now drive to Home Depot in Terrell. They have never once questioned my tax exemption. You would think a hardware store in a small farming town would be more in tune with AG folks than a big box store 20 miles away, but this is NOT the case with...

I am giving 3 stars only because of their hours of operation, CLOSED SUNDAY and only open till 5:30pm M-F...I mean come on people, some of us work for a living and dont get home before 6pm! I have no problem with the store I can usually find what I need and am glad to have this store in our area, however, this store does me know good closing so early, several times I have had an emergency and needed pvc pipe or other items from broken pipes or other issues after getting home from work and had to drive to Tyler, TX to get what I needed. I feel the owner/operator of this store has set the store hours for his needs and not the customer needs. I hope they rethink this and at least stay open late a few days a week AND SUNDAYS. I do not normally bash our local stores but if I cant use the store because they basically work 8-5 like a doctor office then I would have to take off from work to get there before they close, which like I said it does...

If you value customer service, this is not the place. I have given them multiple opportunities. The first time I tried to visit, it was 4:45pm, they close at 5pm. As I pulled up they locked the doors and turned off the lights. The next time I visited, I went in and asked for assistance and they said “if we have it it will be on isle…” I went back when I couldn’t find the isle I was looking for and asked for assistance again explaining I could not locate the wall the were talking about. It ended up being an end cap. Today, I went in for a specific item that I was unfamiliar with and the person at the “customer service” desk or check out counter cut me off in the middle of my sentence and said “if we have it, it will be on isle…” I prefer to shop local, but will drive to Tractor Supply or even to Wills Point to Best for...
