I know everyone is giving them rave reviews and the food was delicious.
However... I was sitting at the counter area and an air vent was pointed straight at my seat, I was freezing on one side and hot on the other. That really wasn't a huge deal because if they were less busy, we could have found another spot. Just poor design, maybe tilting the vent would be nice.
The waiter was difficult to get back to the table at a reasonable time because when my food came out, only part of it was warm. I actually leaned back and waived my arms because it was taking so long to get his attention. Even though it was delicious, the cartoonishly small sorbet sized scoop of potatoes and 2 mini squash/carrots hardly is a side of vegetables. Since the veggies are usually my favorite part, this was beyond disappointing. The veggies were more like decorations than anything else. Delicious decorations but barely a bite or two plated.
Where we were sitting at the counter, we could see a dark haired woman in her 50-60s that was helping prep the food with bare hands, not a huge deal but I also watched her scratching her head, handling money and enjoying some nibbles herself. When I saw her scratching her chin/neck area and then standing the triangle of cheese or bread onto the plate for presentation, I was done eating. One of the other waitresses was also enjoying some nibbles when she would step back near the food prep/kitchen area.
Disappointing because the food really was outstanding but I simply cannot get over the way the food...
Read moreBlanc - the good and the not so good. The restaurant is small and tight. Don’t expect privacy; but that does not detract. No liquor is served except beer and wine. Wine selection is okay, we each had a single glass. It’s not the restaurant’s focus. Service was professional, friendly, and excellent. We appreciated food coming as ready, delivered by whichever server was closest to the kitchen. Great cooperation and coordination of staff. The starters: escargot (perfect blend of butter, garlic, parmesano, and parsley) with dry toast rounds to dip. The toasted candied pecan and blue cheese mixed green salad had crisp greens but the lightly applied vinaigrette dressing was a little sour. The blue cheese crumbles were sparsely applied and of the pre made variety (tasteless). I’d give the salad two stars and suggest to Blanc - you can do better. Similarly so with the generous portion of nicely cooked Barramundi. You drowned the entire entré in olive oil and pesto. Was the risotto “gummy”(?). Who would know! The beautiful Veal Chop with rich and savory mushroom sauce was fabulous, a perfect M/MR! Five stars! The decorative vegetable garnish (four blanched green beans, a cherry tomato, two small pea pods, and a nicely carved slice of yellow zucchini) made for an attractive wooden platter presentation; but the herbed mushroom risotto was a little “gummy” for an early evening reservation. For two without desert the tariff was $162.00 for...
Read moreDo NOT Waste Your Time or Money... Without Jean Claude and Lori... BLANC is no longer Amazing... It is Absolutely Awful now and I am so sad!! Last night was the first time we have been to BLANC since Jean Claude and Lori retired and it will be our last time... It was Absolutely Horrific! I had the most flavorless escargot I've ever had in my life as our appetizer, then I moved onto the lambchops that I ordered medium rare and they arrived WELL done!! The first time I have EVER had to send food back since we started going to Blanc 3 year's ago... The Lambchops then arrived back to me RAW!! You read that correctly... They were Raw... They were honestly cold to the touch!! I felt so bad for our server because he was horrifed by the experience that we were going through. Of course he offered me everything under the sun to make up for it but it was at that point that I had decided not to eat anything that came out of that kitchen ever again! I was beyond sad... Blanc was one of our all-time favorite restaurants and now we won't ever return! I also want to mention that to top off our horrific experience they now charge you $40 instead of $25 to Un-cork your bottle of wine...which is beyond ridiculous! To give you some insight The below review was my review of Blanc 3 year's ago...
