I wish i could give it zero stars. This place is the worst American Legion we have been to in 30 states. We have a service dog that alerts my husband for a medical condition that happened during the Gulf War. The Commander came up to us after us being there for about an hour to tell us to leave because no service dogs are allowed in the club. Joe was rude, disrespectful, and mean. He never even asked us what service the dog performs. He said, "That thing is not a service dog." He asked what the disability was, which is totally against ADA rules. He kept saying the membership voted that no pets are allowed in the facility. He told us to get the HELL out, or he can call someone to remove us. It was the most disrespectful thing I have ever encountered. We have visited American Legions in 30 states over the last 2 years and never have been treated this way. My husband is 100% disabled veteran who fought for the freedom that we ALL enjoy. He was in a major plane crash in 1992 and saved himself and 2 others(3 parished, there are articles you can look up), but it left him with medical conditions that his service dog could alert him of. Joe not only did not ask what service the dog performed, but he also accused his service dog of not being an ADA compliant service dog. His service dog has traveled to 30 states over the last 2+ years. The Grand O Opery, Yellowstone and Glazier national parks, Grand Canyon, numerous Moose, Elks, American Legion, VFWs, and a variety of venues have welcomed his service dog. However, this one little American Legion post 274 knows more than anyone else in this country. It is the most ridiculous thing I have ever dealt with in almost 59 years of my life. I ask that any veteran that reads this please do not go to this club. Thank you for reading this all the...
Read moreI rated this place a one star because I couldn't give them a zero. 28 years as a Legion member, this is by far the worst Legion my wife and I have been in. My wife and I walked in and nobody welcomed us or even looked at us. Someone noticed that we had our service dog with us and came over to us and said that the Commander doesn't allow pets. My service animal had her vest on. The Commander came over, poked me in the back and told me to take my service dog and get out and don't come back. My wife and I tried to talk to the Commander but he was having none of it, we just left, said we wouldn't be back and he said "good". So, all Veterans wanting to visit this post, let it be known, you are not...
Read moreI am ashamed & upset that a veteran would not be allowed in ANY establishment with their "authorized, authentic" service animal let alone at an American Legion post 🥲🥲🥲🤬🤬🤬🤬 Sounds like it's time for a new Commander or new rules, how about both!!!!!!
