Excellent small marine center in Ft Myers Beach, FL. We checked out the interesting exhibits then took the Working Waterfront tour lead by the head of the center and the volunteer coordinator. We learned about the shrimping industry, the boats & current foreign competition. Then saw boats offloading their hauls, weighing the catch and loading it into freezer trucks for transport to market in Tampa. Also net makers in action, boats & outriggers under repair and various businesses that support the fleets. Currently, you have to call to make an appointment because they are understaffed until the end of August. But we did and it was totally worth it! My kids stayed and enjoyed for over an hour because everything is geared toward children being able to pick up and touch and interact with the vast majority of their exhibits.
