I hate writing a bad review for a place that offered such great food, but I have to say this was pretty bad.
The main thing was that after our waitress introduced herself, she left and went to the trash bins and started changing out the old trash bags. When she came back, I asked if we could have some waters for the table. Without washing her hands (it was all in view from our table) she came back with our three waters. What’s even worse is that she put her hands on the rim of the cup I was drinking out of. I brought it to her attention and she felt very sorry and offered to give me a new one. I told her I just wanted her to be aware. It seems like common sense that a person should wash their hands after they’ve been emptying out trash bins. But to not even have the awareness to keep your hands off of the rim of someone’s cup by putting their hands where someone’s mouth is going to be is pretty bad. Likewise, no straws were offered and no kids menu was offered. I had to go up to the hostess to get a kids menu. And she wanted to know for certain the age of my child. I was overall very unimpressed with the service. I also think that it’s pretty standard for a waitress to ask upon first meeting if anyone needs water when they come to the table. We had been out on the water and were thirsty. Changing out the trash shouldn’t have been a priority over the people who just came in.
On the upside, I ordered the grouper BLT and was very happy with my choice. The food was all fresh and all the ingredients worked well together. I was very happy with the...
Read moreOverall very disappointing. For an expensive restaurant I definitely expected something better. First thing we faced is the restaurant doesn’t provide parking. There is a parking lot in front of the building but it doesn’t belong to them…?
When we walk in, we are faced with a barrage of swag to buy before or even seated. They are trying to get us to buy hats and bottle cozies and more. Not very classy.
When we ordered drinks I found out they don’t have HOT WATER…? When I requested a cup of hot water with lemon, she said they don’t have any.
They don’t give you any dinner rolls. You have to buy their “bay bread” for $12 and it’s covered with sauce and cheese like cheap pizza. They make it sound good with their fancy words on the menu, but don’t fall for it like we did. You could buy an entire delicious pizza for the cost of this pizza inspired “appetizer” we had to order because they don’t put out dinner rolls that we typically like to enjoy with our drinks while waiting for our appetizers.
Their strange combination of scallops and pierogies did not go well at all so beware of that.
Their “gourmet grouper” was no better than other restaurants’ grouper dishes in the area.
The server was flighty and unhelpful. She essentially did nothing but take our order as everything else was served by others from the kitchen. She could have been standing behind a counter at a fast food chain for all she did.
With so many other waterfront dining experiences to choose from, I would not recommend this to any of my friends nor ever...
Read moreOur first night in FMB, we dined at Snug Harbor. We were staying at Pink Shell, and nothing was opened there. We got to the restaurant and had to pay for parking - a small nit. They were about 30 minutes from closing, so we tried to get our order in quickly, but then they did accommodate others who came in right at close. Not really a nit, but we did feel a tad rushed to order, but then others weren't rushed.
Okay, anywho, it's a laid-back atmosphere, right on the water. We got to see the colors of the sunset on the marina while we dined. Nice breeze, so it wasn't too hot and uncomfortable. And our server was fabulous - unfortunately, I didn't get her name, but she was great!
Here is what we ordered: Mary's Calamari - these were good, but it's the sauce that made the difference. Harbor Mussels - very good, and we were ready to drink the broth. Ended up ordering more bread to soak up that yummy goodness! Ahi Tuna (starter) - the photo of this didn't turn out. The plating isn't anything spectacular, but it's a good dish. My son was shocked by how much he liked it, especially the Wakame salad. I wish it had more than one tempura shrimp.
I would definitely go back to Snug Harbor and try some other items on their menu - or even order these...
