Having worked in Retail for over 20 years, I know how unnerving it can be to see a family come in with a small child. Children are unpredictable and don't often "look with their eyes", as they are told to.
That being said, I brought my father, husband and 4.5 year old into Queen May the other day, because they have such a beautifully curated selection, that I feel as if I am at a museum exhibit.
My husband and I can't afford a single thing, but that doesn't stop us from looking, and in this case, from being welcomed in a singularly lovely way.
One of the women who worked at the store noticed that I had shown my daughter the stunning Diamond Tiara that was showcased in the window.
She offered to let my daughter try it on; at which point I had a teeny tiny stroke. My sweaty little almost five year old, trying on a $67,000 tiara?!
The woman gently put her hand on my arm and said "Every little girl deserves to feel like a princess." At which point she lifted my little girl on to the window sill and promptly placed the magnificent tiara on her head. She allowed me to photograph her to my hearts content.
It is difficult to express how much I appreciate this experience, because I'm looking at it from many different facets:
As a former Retail Manager, this level of customer service exceeds what most places would even aim for. This woman created an amazing experience for a family, who will now always remember it, and thus have created a customer for life; so when I do hit the lottery I will come back and purchase this tiara!
As a parent, watching my little girl feel SO special, and having my father see his little granddaughter wearing such a special piece and sharing this experience together was magical.
Taking a moment to recognize that I likely was not going to buy anything, but creating an incredible moment for us, regardless of monetary gain, is significant to me.
Taking the time to acknowledge my child and what she could find magical about a "grown-up" shop, made her feel like a "Big girl" and let me tell you, that she talked about it all day.
All in all, I have to say that I am utterly and completely under the spell of the wonderful assortment and painstakingly beautiful jewelry; but mostly I am so grateful for the care and attention of that one phenomenal woman; who I am so sorry to say, who's name I never asked.
Thank you so very much, from me and my family. We...
Read moreLong over due review and I am going to GUSH!!! I am not much of a tech or review girl but if anyone deserves to have a five star review it is Queen May.
We met Daniel and Amanda the owners of Queen May years ago. Being well traveled "jewelry people" we have a lot of experience from places all over the country and world. We have bought from many. Our go to is Queen May! We are locals and stop in all the time.... Just to peruse and browse often ending up in a sale. We LOVE THE STAFF. Sally, Carol, Taryn, Chris, Dom ,Bekah ,and Mikey are exceptional. Never any pressure and so knowledgeable. It is safe to say we have spent many an afternoon hanging out having a glass of champagne and catching up with everyone on their families, it feels like home.
Over the years we have purchased at least 7 Chanel bags and 20 pieces of jewelry. The biggest purchase was a ten carat round diamond with 1 carat baguettes that Daniel and Amanda sourced from an Estate so my husband could surprise me for my 60th birthday! They kept it a secret for over a year. They have reset rings for us and even called us when they think we might love something. The great thing is they also will say " you know that just doesn't work for you".
We have brought many of our friends and family to Queen May and they have started long term relationships with them as well. Can not say enough about the shopping experience, the selection of gems and the diversity of contemporary and vintage jewels. The integrity and accommodation they share with you is what puts them above and beyond. Most of all we can now call them not just business acquaintances but friends that feel like family.
Do your self a favor and stop in for a visit and tell them Jen and...
Read moreI adore everything about Queen May Jewelry. Several years ago, I bought my first piece of jewelry from husband and wife team, Dan and Amanda. I haven't shopped anywhere since that first purchase! Queen May is the only place I shop for jewelry now because of its amazing customer service, gorgeous selection of jewelry, and seamless designing and buying experience. As someone with discerning taste, I value Queen May's deep knowledge of diamonds and vintage design. Whether you are looking for a Cartier LOVE bracelet less expensive than retail, a stunning engagement ring, or anything in between, Queen May is the place to go! In addition to buying Cartier pieces, diamond studs, and cocktail rings from Queen May over the years, I have also bought a custom engagement ring from them. Amanda knew I had my heart set on a 3+ carat Old European Cut diamond upgrade for my engagement ring. She found THE diamond then spent considerable time helping me decide on the perfect setting for this unique, stunning stone. I settled on a vintage Cartier platinum setting with side baguettes that I saw online. Queen May's bench jeweler was able to replicate this 1950's classic ring perfectly down to every last detail. Queen May's eye for design, customer service, competitive pricing, and expansive selection of new and old keep me coming back. Queen May also sells luxury goods—including Chanel, Goyard, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton—and buys jewelry from clients. Their trade in program is generous and appealing to me. Who doesn’t like to upgrade diamonds? Queen May Jewelry definitely increases the cool factor in cool Cape May with Dan and Amanda at the helm. They are...
