This hotel is a perfect location w/ proximity to the beach, shopping & restaurants. When we first checked in we were put into Room 207 which is listed as "Town View" but you are basically looking at a parking lot. I asked to upgrade to a nicer room which was available and cost me an additional $110 more. We were moved to Room 201 Ocean View. I asked to be moved to the 3rd floor because those units actually feel bigger because of the high ceilings however we were told that none were available. (Our entire stay, just about every 3rd floor unit parking spot was empty and the units were dark). I'm not sure why she was holding out and didn't just put us on the 3rd floor since there were open rooms and I was willing to pay for it. So we were moved to Room 201 which was nice but not spectacular for $399 a night. It rained our entire stay and since we visited during CoVid, only outside dining was allowed. Since I had 2 kids with me it was too damp, windy, cold & rainy to sit outside and eat so we decided to cook in. Many people choose not to cook on vacation but we had no other choice since it was 60 degrees out, damp and raining. The kitchen had the bare essentials. The pots & pans are old and the silverware was dirty so I had to wash everything before I used it. Weather is always unpredictable so I obviously cannot blame the hotel that we were stuck in for 3 days but at least equip the kitchen with items that a family would need should they need to cook. The pool was closed which was not disclosed to me until I arrived for check in. We didn't have any interaction with the staff but they seemed nice as I passed them in the hallways. My overall review is that $1800 for a 3 day stay was a complete waste of money. Cape May is way overpriced. I choose this hotel because it was recommended by a friend. I feel it is way over priced and will not...
Read moreI am one who never says never, but I can honestly say I will NEVER stay at the Sandpiper, or recommend spending your time or money on the Sandpiper. I scheduled this family vacation with my mother and sister, each having our own rooms. We were guaranteed that our room would be next to each other and that there was a room block to hold the three rooms together. If the rooms were not together we would have booked at a different resort. The reason for this being the baby monitor does not stretch that far so we need rooms next door to each other so the adults can hang out together when kids go to bed at night. When we checked in, we found out we were NOT together and basically were told by staff it is what it is. On top of this, I was not given a ticket to the carnival like my sister was for my kids. Also, when we checked into the room there was no crib which I reserved ahead of time and paid for. I was told “they were short cribs would I like a pack and play”. My child does not sleep in a pack and play or else I would have brought my own. I had to produce written proof and go back down to office to get crib situation squared away. My room was also smaller than my sister and mothers, you could barley fit two people on my porch but yet my room was the same price as theirs. I was told three times the manager Michael would call me to address these issues. I left him two voicemails. Each day when I went to the front office I was told “he stepped out” and my name, room number and phone number was taken. Lets just say I never heard from this manager “Michael”. I have NEVER in my life traveled somewhere where a manager has not gotten back to a guest regarding an issue with someone’s stay. I am SHOCKED that this is part of Cape Resorts with that level of non existent...
Read moreWe have been to Cape May many times, but the first time staying at the Sand Piper Beach Club. Cape May is expensive, and this is no exception. Having access to Congress Hall, and the beach service was a definite plus.Having the convince of not taking beach chairs and towels along was a great help. We also toured the Beach Plum Farm going towards the light house, which I enjoyed very much. The staff is friendly, and professional. Unloading/Loading is somewhat challenging with the number of cars pulling in and out at check in. Parking in general in Cape May is at a premium in the summer, so we were glad to have a dedicated spot. However, the parking lot is tight, and challenging to park with large family minivans and SUV's in tight spaces. Once parked and loaded the luggage cart, we began our trip up to the suite. The vexation of dragging your belongings all the way around the building, up a ramp, and through the narrow passageway from the front of the building to the back where the elevator rests, one flight up from ground level is asinine. Truly, architects and engineers are smart people, and something should have been considered to solve that problem. The turndown service confused us, because we were unaware of the amenity; thought for a minute that we were visited by one of Cape May's ghosts! Upon returning from a night out on the town, all the lights in the suite were on, (ghosts like to turn on lights) but all was well after a call to...
