Oddly, this post keeps getting deleted. I’ll just continue to repost! My family and I were guests at The Tides, room 403 from 8/20/22 thru 8/27/22. We have been guests at The Tides for several years and always found the rentals to be well kept, a positive reflection of the individual owners of the condominium units. This was not at all the case on our most recent visit.
Upon entry to the room we were greeted by a very strong musty odor, and stained wall-to-wall carpeting. We immediately told our children they were not to walk barefoot through the unit, not knowing what they might be stepping on. The general condition of the apartment was poor. Walls, doors and switches (especially in the bathroom) were filthy. At best the bathroom might compare to one you might find in a cheap motel. There was pubic hair and other matter on the floor. My wife and I cleaned the bathroom floor ourselves with supplies we had to purchase at the local grocery store. We also purchased plug-in air fresheners in an attempt to mask the odor of the unit. It's hard to believe this disaster of living quarters could be in such close proximity to the beautiful beaches of Cape May. We used the room only when we had to, avoiding it morning through night.
In summary, the condition of room 403 is the equivalent of a fraternity house. The owner obviously doesn't care about her guests, rather collecting a $3,000 check from weekly renters without being bothered.
Now for The Tides. A staff member admitted the room was "disgusting", but there is nothing they can do about it other than passing the information along to the owner. They do however advertise the room on their website, so I am challenging The Tides to do the right thing. In addition to the photos posted on their website, I would like to see the photos I took for this Yelp review added to the website for room 403. In all fairness, vacationers who have saved several thousand dollars to visit beautiful Cape May should know what they are spending their money on and not be deceived. In my opinion, if The Tides doesn't step up and let potential guests know the true condition of their rooms, they are just as unethical as the owner...
Read moreFavorite place to stay! I've been going to Cape May with my husband for approx 15 years now (his parents brought him as a child and we've continued it with our children). Perfect for adults and families. Each year we tried out a new house rental or hotel when we went. Until a few years ago finding the Tides. It's perfect for so many reasons: the staff are BEYOND friendly and treat you like family, the location you really can't get any better. The courtyard is perfect for kids and family meals. If you have kids, I like staying in condos starting with a 2 as those are on the 2nd level, where the pool is and each for them to go & play in the courtyard or easily get to the pool (not having to worry about them running down stairs). Beach across the street - main shops/restaurants/bars in front and directly a block or two behind is the shopping center, you can even walk to the grocery store Acme. The condos are always well taken care of, which everything you need in them.
All in all, we've stayed many places and the Tides has now become our "home away from home" when visiting Cape May. Highly suggested!! If I was being absolutely picky - my only wish is that the pool stayed open later (but I'm sure the reason for that is due to legal risks, etc). Again that is just something so minor and not something that deters my love for the place! Thank you Tides for always providing a great experience for our...
Read moreA schwag condo style place.
Pros: close to the mall and the beach.
Cons: 1. the internet is atrocious. I work in software as a network programmer. Ran my tools at multiple times of the day. Their WiFi signal is great (they upgraded last year) but their backbone is a 10Mbps down residential connection. Unacceptable for a "resort" with 40+ units. You get better bandwidth using you mobile data connection. Unacceptable.
Air-conditioning is hit or miss depending on the unit. First two years we had great AC . This year, its a trickle of cool air. On top of that the staff had the balls to try and tell us it was working correctly. Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining. We shall not be returning for a 4th year, there are better places at the same...
