if i could put 0 stars i would. I’ve never had someone be so blatantly racist to my family. We were checking out at the register, she wasn’t even the one ringing us up, and she goes “wow where are you from i can’t figure out your accent” which wasn’t even what i’m upset about she proceeded to follow up with “wow well welcome to town” i tell her we’ve been here for 20+ years, and she says “even after all that time you still haven’t lost it?” “my Brazilian friends don’t have it anymore and they’re not from here either” and i tell her that’s not how it works and that’s not something she should be saying to customers. I guess for most white people that are ignorant about speech and location are incapable of understanding there are things that seems like a normal question. That’s like me asking where her European accent went since that’s where she’s from? However that doesn’t make sense does it. Once again i’ve been here many times and have yet to come across something like this, it’s truly embarrassing because i know that if she was asked if she’s racist she would say no but her actions and words most definitely say otherwise. Wow 🤩 feeling the holiday cheer from these folks! I called Christmas Eve minutes before they closed looking for a gift card. The owner (I’m assuming 🤔) or whomever helped us, offered to charge us by phone for the gift and either meet us at her house or wherever she was so we could pick it up if we didn’t make it across town to ZI in time. She even gave us her personal cell phone number to call when we arrived! As one small local biz owner to another, this kind of customer service is what community is all about and is EXTREMELY above and beyond, especially on Christmas Eve! I’m sure they had a super busy exhausting past few days with all the holiday craze, I was just so touched she did all of this for us at the very end of it all. We already loved Zen Island and will definitely be loyal shoppers forever. Sincere...
