Oh, the shop was all cute, with its branding just right, On a sunny street corner, all cheerful and bright. The staff? Super friendly. The floors? Really clean. It all looked so perfect… almost too serene.
I walked in with hope and my wallet in hand, Ready for breakfast — something bold, something grand. I got a spam sandwich, a breakfast burger too, And a strawberry matcha, that lovely pink hue.
The drink was delicious, refreshing and sweet — The kind of small joy that can’t be beat. But the food? Oh dear. It just made me pause. Because for a place called Mad Yolks… well, there’s a flaw.
The eggs came out dry, not a yolk in sight, No golden goo center, no runny delight. The sandwiches crumbled, each bite a bit sad, Like brunch with no joy, just mildly bad.
And the price? Thirty-five. Yes, dollars, not cents. For two dry sandwiches and one good beverage expense.
The vibe was on point, the service was kind, But a dry over-easy egg should honestly be a crime. I came in with hope, left with regret, And a breakfast experience I’m trying to forget.
So visit if you must, give that matcha a spin, But don’t count on the food to deliver a win. Because when yolks don’t run, and prices do soar, You leave wondering what exactly...
Read moreWe were looking for breakfast places to eat in Capitola and upon our search, we found this place. Loved the vibrant, clean interiors of the place and the menu line up looked amazing. I ordered the BAE sandwich eggs over medium, bacon and avocado in a freshly baked, soft brioche bun. Can’t go wrong with this combo. It was satisfying and very filling. Although, I was really tempted to try the chicken sandwich but i’d have to work up an appetite to eat such a monstrous sandwich. It seemed like a popular choice and looked really good though. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito, loaded with bacon, eggs, potatoes, avocado, topped with their house salsa—i’m still drooling over this. Every bite was bold and flavorful. Probably the best breakfast burrito i’ve ever eaten, though I wish they had an orange sauce. To top it all off, we shared the matcha strawberry latte. It was smooth, just the right amount of sweetness, and tasted like they used high-quality matcha.
Overall, this spot exceeded our expectations. Great food and friendly vibes. We will absolutely be back next time we’re...
Read moreWe just found our new favorite breakfast spot and it happens to be right in my neighborhood! How lucky!
My group ordered a couple of egg sandwiches, the chicken sandwich, and the curry moco (subbed the beef patty with crispy chicken). Service was fast, everything was delicious, well balanced flavors, and those brioche buns were incredible (they bake them in-house!)
The drinks were just as good. I ordered a lilikoi tea with pineapple and orange, my girlfriend had a coconut matcha, both super refreshing and flavorful and my other folks got coffee. We ended up finishing everything way too quickly lol
Highly recommend stopping by. My girlfriend was able to find street parking easily, but there are also two lots nearby: one behind the building and one across the street. Also, they have fast Wi-Fi (big bonus for me! ), comfy and plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Super excited to go back to try...
