Betty Burgers — Restaurant in California

I have lived in Santa Cruz over 25 years and it's taken me too long to try out Betty Burgers. I have always heard good things, but I just don't go out for burgers very often. There are just too many great Taquerias here.... :)

But, I was talked into trying out this landmark Santa Cruz burger restaurant last night, and I was not disappointed at all and it lived up to my high expectations from what others have said over the years.

I had a burger that had Balsamic grilled onions, smokey cheddar cheese and bacon. Boy was it yummy. Everything was fresh, and the combination of a great patty, bun and other ingredients were all I could wish for in a burger. We agreed we all liked our Betty Burgers much better than the new Five Guys Burgers in town.

And I have to give a compliment to the staff too. They were very friendly and helpful. The burgers and fries were delivered quickly and came out hot and tasty. They even had beer on tap which was a great plus for me, because I just don't drink soda. Top marks here for great service and great food! I will definitely be...

My family stopped in here for some dinner on a Saturday around 6PM. There were a few tables open inside, and several tables open outside. The decor was pretty cool, it had a lot of autographed photos and stuff around the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful for the few things we asked about. The menu was what you would expect from a quality burger place. Plenty of options at a fair price. We ended with a burger each, and then we also got the Garlic Fries, Regular Fries, and Onion Rings. We sure do like our sides lol. The burger was juicy and flavorful, mine was actually chorizo and ground beef mixed, and it was excellent. The fries were thin and crispy, and the garlic ones had plenty of garlic flavor. My wife assured me that the Onion Rings were good, but I don't mess with onions, I can't validate ;) Overall though, I'd definitely consider this a great burger joint and I wouldn't hesitate to return here next time we are...

I go to Betty's on 41st semi regularly, maybe once a month. The food is always good for the price. Today, my visit to Betty's actually brightened my day. The blonde girl at the register (sales receipt says Michelle K S) was super friendly, attentive and engaging, and required a high five to complete my order. As I waited about 20 minutes for my food to come out (it was pretty busy,) I noticed that she was equally attentive, friendly and engaging with every customer she interacted with, making helpful suggestions to increase customer satisfaction, offering different sauce options for fries among other things regardless of if they were in store or on the phone.

It wasn't a big thing, but I haven'd had someone at a restaurant make me smile just by being who they are and having a fantastic work ethic in about 25 years. I have literally never written a review of anything, but Michelle's (if that's her name) service made me feel...
