Pleasure Pizza has been my go to since 2006, upon first moving into Santa Cruz. Both of my boys have grown up with regular trips. It is a super casual, uniquely local place to go into and have predictably good pizza in a location just blocks from the bluffs. My older son was born with special needs and in turn he received special service. He would walk in like he owned the place, take his favorite seat, and staff would automatically put a slice of his favorite pizza in the oven. When our slices were done, his was always cut into smaller pieces as he could not use a fork and knife competently and would make a mess with one big slice. He also received personal service, with staff bringing it to the table, no matter how busy they were. There was once a lady named Jessica who worked there the longest of anyone I could remember, was sweet and kind, and set the standard for service I have come to know..There have been many others over the years, but all are friendly and get to know you and any special needs you might have. I love their pizza and my boys likewise. Even as it changed ownership the quality has always been consistent. It is the antithesis of a larger local chain that was one local and had character, but began to franchise and have a predictably boring taste. I can safely say they have survived by a predominately local clientele who have rewarded them with...
Read moreOne of the better pizza places in the Santa Cruz area! Stop by for a quick slice on your way to the hook or while walking down Pacific, or grab an entire pizza to bring home. Now with 2.5 locations, this review could readily apply to any one of them, whether in the original location(s) at the end of 41st, or the newer location in downtown Santa Cruz.
I've sampled a variety of their slices through the year, and they certainly do the classic pies really well. The standout element to their pizza for me is the crust. It's voluminous and fluffy, fantastic for soaking up leftover sauce, grease, or oil. The cheese and sauce feel high quality and strike the right balance between simple and tasty.
If you're looking for a place to sit down, head to the East Side Eatery on 41st where you'll find some more options (of which I've never tried) on the menu, including everything from brunch to burgers. Certainly not a bad spot to head to with a group of people, particularly if you're looking to pair your pizza with a pitcher of brew.
You won't find many gimmicks at Pleasure Pizza -- it's just a good old fashioned pie, and a great...
Read moreYummy! I love when places sell slices. I don’t always want a whole pizza that is all the same flavor. With slices, you can get a variety.
It’s located close to my house and they always have really good pizza. I am more of a fluffy bread crust girl and they have huge slices with nice bready crust.
They have a pepperoni and pineapple that is really good as well as the ham and pineapple. They usually have specials that are very creative and full of flavor.
They have a nice location near the hook beach right off of Portola and 41st Ave. You can sit down inside or outside to eat your pizza or take it down to the water to watch the waves.
Staff is always super nice and greet you with a smile like you’ve been coming here for years. Great spot for slices but you can get a whole...
