Grind Time Coffee — Restaurant in Carlsbad

The owner seemed very nice, but unfortunately my experience here was disappointing. I ordered a pour-over with single-origin beans, and what I received was definitely not a pourover. The taste was like flavored coffee (hazelnut notes) rather than natural, high-quality beans. I’ve had pourovers hundreds of times before, and this was not the real thing.

I also tried one of the drinks, and again it tasted flavored and not natural. The bagels are definitely not from New York. I’ve had NYC bagels, and these don’t compare at all.

Another big issue was the pricing. I wasn’t told the price beforehand, and when I got my receipt it didn’t have any itemization. Prices aren't listed on the menu. The charge was higher than what I was told, entered as a custom amount, and the total was very overpriced for what I got.

Overall, while the owner was kind, the quality of the coffee and food was poor, and the business practices around pricing were concerning. I would not recommend going here, and I hope the owner takes steps to improve both product quality and...

Located conveniently on the road to the caverns from Carlsbad City, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and efficiency of the service and product.

We traveled with a large group and were delighted that all eight of our drinks were made quickly and correctly, for an exceptionally affordable price. The gentleman running the shop was pleasant and took the time to ensure we had a great experience.

We were also impressed by the thoughtful and intentional menu choices from the wide range of milk alternatives to the unique beverage add ins. We certainly appreciated the ability to purchase and/or use reusable cups for the order.

If you love to have a pep in your step at any time of the day, then this is the place to be. If you want to watch what goes into your body, this is the place to be. I have never had a bad drink from Grind Time. It's all super delicious and you can tell he really puts his all into any drink that he serves his customers.
