This was, by far, the worst furniture buying experience I've ever had. First off, they said our custom couches would take 6 weeks. They took 12! But, worse than that, I could never get anyone to call me back. You'd call for an update and no one ever answered the phone or they shunted it to some woman in customer service which always went to voicemail.
Then the couches finally arrive and the delivery guys don't even take off their shoes or lay down mats. Just tromp right in in the middle of a wet winter day. I couldn't believe it. Even the plumber sees our white carpet and immediately takes off their shoes.
I also ordered a wardrobe and it had a very noticeable area where the veneer had come off. They told me that they would "restore it." They didn't "restore it" before delivery, so I called and they sent someone over. He literally came over with a can of spray paint. Apparently, what they meant by "restore" was simply cover it up with paint. God knows how much of the furniture they're selling on the floor has been "restored."
Then both the couches were damaged or had poor construction. So after waiting 12 weeks, they then had to come, pick them up, and "fix" them. After the wardrobe restoration, I don't even want to know what that entailed. The couches were gone for another 8 weeks! 8 weeks! And never an update. I'd call weekly and be told that "they were prioritizing the repair" but that was the rare time anyone answered the phone or returned a voicemail. Sometimes I'd have to call 2-3 times a day for 4 days to even get anyone on the line, not that it mattered as they either lied about it being prioritized or would just claim they didn't know why it was taking so long (apparently, it was too difficult to talk to their repair team to find out?)
The experience was just so insanely awful from sale to delivery to "customer service." I would never ever recommend anyone buy furniture from here. The majority of what they have in the show room can be found online. Order from...
Read moreI would give zero stars if possible. We ordered furniture - took 9 months to arrive. We knew immediately that the recliners were different than the floor model. The floor model chairs were super comfortable. These were short (uncomfortable to sit in) and hard- overstuffed and seemed like they were filled with helium. We contacted the store immediately. We were told to keep them for a couple months to see if they softened up and if not, we could return them. They didn’t soften up after several months so we contacted the store for a return. After many phone conversations, visits by the manufacturer rep, we were told there was nothing wrong with the chairs and J. Kirk would not honor their agreement with us. After much discussion, the manager agreed to take the chairs back and give us a credit. This won’t work as we would not bother ever shopping there again. We are so disgusted with our salesman, Joe, and with the manager. We really got taken and learned a very...
Read moreBefore I scare you away, inside of this store is another store - Ovation. It's an audio/video store with just the best in components and speakers. Spent a short time visiting with Chris. He put me in mind of Rick Beato. We sat and musically reminisced. A pleasure to talk to. The John Kirk furniture store is in Carmel, so don't be surprised at the prices. Very expensive but high quality. I was mainly impressed with the dining tables which were rock solid. The dining chairs should last forever. They are so well built, but then you're looking at $800 to...
