My second review of Pedego.
You can see from the first review below that our buying experience was great, but that happens a lot of the time, right? Its what happens after the sale that really decides if you made a good choice or not.
We have had our bikes for about two years and I can speak to the quality and ongoing service after the fact now. Like I said, we could have bought cheaper (but not by much) online but I was concerned about ongoing service and parts. Friends of ours have gone the cheap internet route and have very much regreted it due to lack of service and the time it takes to get parts. Plus, most of the time they are working on their bikes themselves.
Our first year we had no issues and really, really enjoyed the bikes. We winter in Florida and in January of this year we headed south and took our bikes with us. I rode my bike to the car, put it on my rack, and headed out. When we arrived at Naples I took my bike off the rack, slid in the battery, and started to take a short tour of the area. I realized in a very short time that the bike would not go. I called Pedego Indy and tried every thing they suggested and it still didn't work. I checked online and found a pedego dealer right down the street. Lucky for me they had just opened that location. I met Lisa and Bill who very quickly diagnosed the issue as a bad motor. Bill said that rarely happens. I thought my riding was over for our time there. Lisa quickly jumped on the phone and told me she had a motor being expedited and they should have it that week. Long story short I had my bike back with a NEW motor that was under warranty in a week and was able to enjoy having my bike for the next couple of months while there. Our last week I broke a spoke and decided I would wait until we returned to Carmel to have it repaired.
Once we were home I visited Josh, John, and Austin at the Carmel Pedego store and they had me up and running in no time. Earlier this summer we were riding, I hit a big bump and and my chain came off. I could not get it back on correctly. I "motored biked" it down the Monon trail to the Pedego store where John had me back up and running in about five minutes. He also took the time to explain why I couldn't get it back on. What I was doing wrong. Just a week ago I heard the dreaded "clicking" noise. We were getting ready to head out on another trip with friends and we were all taking our bikes. I took my bike in the day before we were to leave and explained to Austin my dilemma. I told him we were leaving at 11:00 the next day. He said to come in at 10:00 and he would come in early to get it done. When I showed up at 10:00 he was putting the wheel back on the bike and away I went.
Bikes are going to break. Whether its electric or non electric they will break. The local service and support from Carmel Pedego has been fantastic. When you look at the number of stores they have around in the different states makes it a no brainer. Even if they don't have a store close by, I think the quality is hard to beat.
Kudo's to Carmel Pedego and Kudo's to Naples Pedego. Kudo's to Josh, John, and Austin at my store here in Carmel. Most of all KUDO'S TO PEDEGO! You have one happy customer here.
You should check these guys out before buying a cheaper bike online. I Just purchased two bikes from Josh. I was pretty sure that I was going to buy one online because of price, but when I added everything up that Josh was throwing in, having a garage to service it, and the 5-year warranty I could not turn it down. I met the entire staff. Very knowledgeable and went out of their way to answer questions. We took an 18-mile ride last night on the Monon and had a great time! We would have never done that with...
Read moreWow, this place is a gem. I was interested in getting myself an ebike and found this nice place in Carmel. I paid them a visit and was greeted by Marco and Josh. I explained to Marco my ebike needs and he answered all my questions thoroughly. He offered me to test ride a Pedego Boomerang. I’m very surprised of this amazing ride, very comfortable and has a lot of power. I had my wife and kids with me at that time, so Marco offered us to test ride the Pedego stretch, where I put the kids in the back and I do all the cycling. Well, not just me, but the electric motor too.
All I can say is that I had an amazing experience with Marco and Josh, I remember after test riding the Pedego Latch, which has a front motor, I told Josh that this needs to be called an AWD bike. You pedal the rear wheel and the motor takes care of the front one.
I did sense that the bikes are very well made. I came into the store expecting myself to pick up a fat tire bike “4” width tire” but I test drove it too and I fell in love with the Boomerang instead, that has a 2” tire. The Pedego Boomerang seemed more comfortable and stable. I let Josh know that I prefer the Boomerang over the fat tire, and he explained that having a fat tire bike is similar to driving a Jeep Wrangler, which is an informative comment since the fat tire ones would perform better in off roads and harsher terrains.
By the way, They only carry Pedego bikes and I found out that their bikes come with two years warranty. They also service bikes and they offer rentals on ebikes!! They are next to the Monon Trail.
The interaction is awesome and the staff is...
