I hope many folks see this review. I have been in the downtown store several times and have purchased items each time but the other day, in Carmel, it was not a good experience. First, I COMPLETELY understand the need to have security and door men/women and cameras all that. I used to work retail and understand it all. Shoplifting is awful, period. Here is the kicker though – treating ALL your guests as if they are potential shoplifters is not how you do business. Having the door guy FORCE you to greet him so he can get a good look at you is bad, having someone follow you around the store when there is zero indication that you are here to shoplift is bad, having someone stare you down while you look at the jewelry is BAD! The “security personnel” need a lot more training. I felt SO uncomfortable when I left after my purchase! I told my husband who was with me that I had a really uncomfortable vibe the whole time I was there. He totally agreed, he did too. Silver In the City, to me, is supposed to be fun, charming, light-hearted, cute boutique type store. The other day, it was none of those things. I don’t think I will be going back to...
Read moreI shop in Silver in the City every couple of months. I’ve been pretty loyal to the Carmel location, and I have enjoyed going there to buy cute little gifts for various occasions. As I was shopping there today, one of the women working the counter asked one of the other employees (in a not so subtle manner) to follow me around the store to ensure that I wasn’t stealing anything. I’m not sure what prompted that behavior other than the fact that I was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. It was very demeaning and made me incredibly uncomfortable. I’m a professional, I’ve never stolen anything in my life, and I’m a frequent customer of the store. I have always treated the people that work in the store with the utmost respect. I’m very disappointed by the behavior of the staff. Although I was polite because I was with a friend who loves shopping there as well, I will not be returning to the store. It was a very...
Read moreOk now this is what I call “The stuff dreams are made of!!!!”. Just a chance visit while strolling around Arts district and my goodness Silver in the city has the cutest, prettiest, bestest (I know that’s not a word) and awesome collection of stones, jewelry, journals, book marks, oh and the stickers!!!, you name it! I don’t even have the complete list here. What we planned as 2 mins ended up into a 20 minute dive into Silver in the City world and trust me, so trust me that I wasn’t done yet but I had to head out just then. This one’s a keeper for anyone who wants unique and different gifts, for anyone who likes to hoard journals and for anyone who loves adoring their walls and tables with fancy stuff. Ah I could go on and go on but you get the...
