Prufrock Coffee Company — Restaurant in Carmel

Good music. Nice bright decor. We were excited to try this place, but honestly weren’t quite sure what was going on with everything else.

A clear menu would be useful. Not everyone knows what an Affogato or Spanish/Turkish coffees are.

I do now know that lavender does NOT belong in a latte, but I gave it a try.

The purple haze was ….. interesting. The croissants were good. The staff were really lacklustre. They weren’t busy, but we had to ask for our table to be wiped. Not sure if they’ve had any training but the basic cleaning up after guests leave was neglected.

Waited a long time for one part of our order while staff just floated around not doing much. Eventually we had to ask for it again.

One rest room, so waiting was inevitable. Probably...

Tried the ice cream croissant and it was pretty good. The buttery pastry went well with their more delicate ice cream. I personally would have liked a caramel, chocolate, or even berry sauce drizzle to tie it together a bit more.

The iced mocha was good. I liked the can style lid since we took ours to go.

Would have liked if the other pastries/desserts had labels to know exactly what they were so we didn't feel like we were holding up the line asking questions. Also tend to prefer a warmer/cozier atmosphere but it was clean, organized, and...

Prufrock’s croissant was really disappointing. It wasn’t fresh at all—tasted like it was baked days ago and left out. It was dry, overbaked, and lacked any of the flakiness or softness you’d expect.

She asked me to heat it up, but even after warming, it didn’t feel fresh or warm—just stale. For the price $6 each, I expected much better. Honestly, I’ve had better croissants from a grocery store bakery. Totally...
