This was a place we had our eyes on, but we wanted to wait for a special occasion. We are so glad we had one to celebrate, because our experience at Anthony's Chophouse was something to celebrate as well. We arrived early, and the front of house was very accommodating and allowed us to sit at the bar for drinks. Bartenders are knowledgeable and professional, and were able to make my unorthodox order.
When it was time for our reservation, they seated us when we notified the front when we were ready. Our waitress Micci helped make our evening special. Very knowledgeable and professional, one of the best I ever had. She expertly went through the menu and her recommendations. I really appreciated her reasons for her recommendations, definitely gave you some added and helpful insight. She engaged in friendly conversation with us as a professional, and was genuine. Anthony's had plenty of wait staff, and everybody seemed to know what to do, how to do it, and when. Very well trained.
The meal was delicious. My fiance ordered the 7 oz filet and a side of fries, and I had the 45 day aged Kansas City Strip and for side the Cauliflower Puttanesca. Steaks were cooked to order and seasoned pretty well. Sides and large cut steaks are definitely sharable. We left absolutely stuffed and satisfied, so they are much better portions than what you typically get at higher end restaurants. We were also treated to their bread pudding. All I have to say is no raisins and that we couldn't put our spoons down until it was all gone.
It is expensive, but you feel like you get what you pay for. The atmosphere is nice and modern, but not stuffy. Tables are well spaced and placed. Decor is simplistic and appeasing, what I prefer. Wine list is much larger for bottles than it is for glasses. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend for celebrating and special occasions. If you are able to ask for Micci at the front of house you will not be disappointed.
Another great experience at Anthony's. Easily my favorite steak/chophouse in Indy area. Delmonico Ribeye was perfect. My wife's filet was a tad under in the middle, but she loved the rest. Daughters steak was also cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend the brussel sprouts as a side, and the bread pudding...

Read moreThe atmosphere of this place is definitely on the elegant side. It is comfortable and clean. We sat in the bar waiting for our table. We ordered a drink and I was surprised that the bartender picked up the big ice cube with his bare hands to make our cocktails. That was a little on the gross side. Tongs would be a nice touch! We told the hostess we would wait for our table in the bar, which is in her plain sight. She told us she would let us know when our table was ready. She didn't. We had to check with her. When we were seated our waiter was prompt and friendly. He explained the menu and asked if we had decided on a wine for dinner. We had, and he told us another wine tasted much better. We went with his suggestion and we weren't disappointed. It was my husband's birthday and everyone greeted him with a "happy birthday". They gave him a nice card and thanked him for choosing them for his special day. Nice touch. We started with the appetizer of scallops. The presentation, cooked in the shell was very nice. They were delicious! Cooked and seasoned perfectly. For dinner, my husband ordered the paella. He was very happy with the dish. Plenty of seafood in the dish. It was filling and had a great flavor. I ordered the twin lobster tails. I am a stickler for hot food. Mine was just warm. The lobster was overcooked and chewy. The flavor was good, but not the consistency. We also ordered a side of jalapeno scalloped potatoes. The potatoes weren't quite done. Again, the flavor was good. There were way too many bread crumbs on top. Dessert was on the house and we shared the bread pudding. It was hot and yummy! It was served with whipped cream. I think vanilla ice cream would have made it better. The restaurant became very busy and our service level dropped. We waited for refills of water and for our plates to be removed. Little stuff. All in all, I would say that will just a few tweaks, this would have been an outstanding meal. It is quite pricey, so be prepared to pay. At the price point there were just some things lacking. That's why the 4 stars. For what I paid, I was a tiny bit disappointed. Not much. I probably...
