Please sit down. This is going to take a bit.....I checked GOOGLE maps and saw that the 2019 State Fair was at Mills Park, Carson City, NV. The park got awesome reviews. The fair not.so.much. To begin with if you are going to have a State Fair make sure the venue is big enough and look to Sacramento CA for examples.
The rides were not worth the $20 in advance for the bracelet or even $30 on the day of. Even though signs were posted to not smoke people smoked. There are zero police or EMTs if a medical emergency arises.
By now you have looked at the GOOGLE map...the park parking lot is like an upside down horseshoe. When the rides were set up it is in a line around the horseshoe with fan favs.
The drop tower was not working. The Fast n Furious (zigzag) not working. Dumbo (kids) only 4 cars working. My other daughter noticed zip ties for the ferris wheel on areas of the ride itself
ZIPPER My autistic spectrum (high functioning) daughter REALLY REALLY wanted to go on this ride. I (I don't know why, just keep reading) went with her. I was on my BP meds and turned 50 last year. It is like being in a car accident but your car IS NOT rolling left to right but flipping top over bottom. She was terrified but didn't realize this til AFTER the ride began. My screaming to stop the ride did absolutely nothing. The workers for this ride were very supportive once it did stop. However she was in a full panic attack at that moment.
The TORNADO operator was very rude. We did not allow an unsupervised child to ride with us. The operator was very upset. I explained I didn't want a law suit from strangers I didn't know, if something happened to their child. He said it would've been all on him. Would you want your child riding with adult strangers?
Within an hour drive to get there. We were done within an hour. This needs to be renamed to just a carnival. Sadly, if this state continues to grow at this rate of speed they will need to come up with a much...
Read moreFirst let me start this by stating this is not a fair although it claims to be. This is definitely a carnival. I have not gone to the fair since it stopped in Reno and was restarted and relocated to Carson. This year I decided to travel to Carson and check out the "fair" and quickly was highly disappointed as this was nothing like the fair used to be. Most the fountain machines in the fair ran food stalls were not working, which exception to one stall which had a super long line. We had purchased an unlimited ride bracelet online which I highly don't recommend. When we tried to redeem our bracelet we were told it didn't exist and it was a headache to get it fixed. Thankfully I had the proof of purchase on me. Now had we known most the rides would be limited to children we wouldn't have purchased the bracelet at all, since there was very limited rides for adults to enjoy. We have had a better experience with carnivals that pass through our local town, than this fair. The flea market portion was fun, however that did not feel like anything special. Overall if you're in the Carson area and don't care much for rides it is probably worth checking out. However it definitely not worth traveling for and you could have the same if not a better experience when the local carnival comes through. I 100% absolutely do not recommend buying ride bracelets in advance due to the inconvenience and headache...
Read moreIf you're looking for a fun, family-friendly experience in Carson City, look no further than the Nevada State Fair! Held in beautiful Mills Park, the fair offers a wide range of rides, delicious food, and exciting games. The park's greenery provides a pleasant atmosphere to relax and enjoy the festivities. Though the food is a little overpriced, it's still worth trying as everything was delicious. The fair also offers a variety of drinks and adult beverages to enjoy. As the state capital, Carson City is an excellent location for this event. Overall, a great time had by all, and we will definitely be coming...
