LONG REVIEW. My fiancé and I purchased a Samsung 75" TV, and when we opened the box and plugged it in we noticed there was a huge crack on the screen and it looked like it had hit against something or had fallen. We didn't even get to start the TV setup. The following day I called our local store and spoke to a CS rep and explained that we had just purchased the TV the night before and the whole situation. The rep said we could just bring the TV back to our local store (Cedar rapids location,) and they would replace it. So that same night we went back to the store and the manager, Andrew, told us that they couldn't replace the TV because there was no way to know if they broke it or if it was us. He went on to say we should've went with the delivery option and in that case it would've been handled and delivered by a professional and he implied that we maybe set it incorrectly inside of our vehicle and that's why it broke. He said "there are customers that strap the TV on top of their vehicle and that's their choice, we only load the TV however the customer asks us to". When in reality, we tried to explain that we were never given the option for a home delivery and didn't provide instructions on how to load the TV into our vehicle. We didn't even touch the TV until we unloaded it at home which was a short car ride from the store. Also, the rep at the store that sold us the TV only asked what vehicle we had and said "it should fit fine" and him and another associate loaded it onto our vehicle. Didn't suggest anything else regarding how it should fit (standing or laying down). Basically they just rung it up and loaded it onto our vehicle. No further explanation, suggestions or questions asked. We also explained that when we called we were told they would replace it but the store manager said no and the best he could do was ask their customer relations team to contact us and opened a "ticket on our behalf" and we were told to contact Samsung directly for their warranty, even though we were still within the 15 day Best Buy warranty. Just as a note, Samsung doesn't cover physical damage. We did contact Samsung and they sent us back to Best Buy. BTW we were never contacted and didn't even receive an email saying a ticket was opened from Best Buy. The only reason this is a 3 star review and not a 1 star review is because I contacted Best Buy through Instagram and explained the situation and the rep worked out a pick up and delivery for a new TV. Wouldn't recommend this specific location since it looks like we're not the only ones that have had issues with the store manager. I also wouldn't buy a TV again from Best Buy unless it's delivered by them to avoid this sort of issue. Thanks to Trey and all the online CS reps that did actually listen to us and were willing to help unlike the store manager at...
Read moreIn 1970, my freshmen year in college, my aspirations were to get knee deep into mathematics and this new fandango thing called a computer. I joined the rowing team called "Crew". My second year Analytical Calculus instructor was a Crew supporter who took an interest in my endeavors. He got me my own state licensed bites in this crazy card punch FORTRAN/COBOL binary code reading beast. Thusly I was the youngest person [under 21] at age 18 to be licensed bytes. My instructor would leave me parameters in my personal stored bytes. My duty was to build an exam by using the supplied info for the class, leaving it in my bytes which freed from attending class to row.
Please excuse my digression.
What I'm eluding to is this. Without the knowledgeable Geek Squad at Best Buy this computer nerd might as well keep his head buried in the sand.
The advancements in technology I once understood far exceeds my abilities therefore Best Buy is the store to visit for all your electronic needs, repairs and advice.
Every store we visited was well stocked and competitively priced. One advantage when purchasing a laptop or similar device Best Buy will download you data from your existing unit to the new one for free.
I must point out my wife and I upgraded our PC tower. Here's my problem.
We went directly to the towers are. I found a sales person to help us decide which of several towers will fit our needs.
I expressed to our salesman I'm writing a book, we want a unit that has Internet connection, WiFi, Modem, and router. Our salesmen sold us a Dell tower assuring me this was what I needed "everything inside". Well as salesmen go this fellow gets a F for not being well informed.
For as many jams the Geek Squad has bailed me out of and or tried to help me without charge I cannot fault Best Buy for one rotten apple employee.
Happy...
Read moreI purchased a microwave and installation package from this store. We showed the salesperson the model we wanted, and trusted them to ring up the correct item. He told us the earliest date we could get it was the next Thursday. When we got home, we noticed the delivery and installation date was the next Monday, the 22nd. I get an email from best buy confirming delivery and installation is on Wednesday the 24th. Today (the 22nd) I get a call checking on the delivery, with the gentleman on the phone (Tyler, i believe) asking if someone came by today. Having worked from home today, I could definitely confirm nobody came. He tried to confirm the microwave brand and model, and it turns out that while the model number and SKU he had matched the one on my receipt, IT DIDNT MATCH THE MICROWAVE WE ACTUALLY ASKED THE SALESPERSON TO RING UP FOR US. We have an 8 month old. It was extremely difficult to cope without a microwave for baby food, and we were really looking forward to not having to basically sous vide the baby food containers. My wife and I made sure this wrong model that was sold to us would fit, and said "screw it, lets just take this model." The gentleman told me a supervisor would call me to work out the delivery and installation details. She tells me the first available install date is THURSDAY THE 25th. I firmly explained we needed that microwave as soon as possible, and after she called me back, we worked out that the installer would come the 24th. Not soon after, I get an email CONFIRMING THE 25TH AS THE INSTALL DATE. I called back the store, and am at the end of my story, because I have had the time to call them and am STILL ON HOLD for 20min, and have written this review during this whole time. I am ok with Best Buy as a brick and mortar shop, but its clear that they...
