Stopped in for lunch today because I was seriously craving Singapore Rice Noodles. The staff that seated us was friendly and our server came over and took drink orders in a timely manner. She brought the drinks and asked if we were ready to order, which we were. Both my companion and I had been there often enough in the past that we didn't look at the menu. I ordered the Singapore Rice Noodles and the server asked me which meat I would like.

I looked back at her kind of puzzled because every time I have previously ordered, it came with shrimp and chicken (if I recall correctly). She explained that they changed the menu a few months back so I looked at the paper menu a little closer. I notice that the menu price had went up $1. I then notice the line telling me that I could get several meats for $4 each. I about swallowed my tongue. The total for the same noodles that I had late last year for $12.95 would now cost me $21.95 if I had gotten both shrimp and chicken that used to be on it by default.

There is no way that dish is worth that much to me, so I had the steak fried rice (for which I still paid a $4 premium for the meat). I do realize that inflation is running at 9+%, however the SRN pricing is 175% of what it was 10 months ago. Last I checked, I could buy at least a half pound of roast, a pound and a half of chicken or a half pound of shrimp for what they are trying to charge to add a few ounces of meat.

There is such thing as covering increased costs, then there is hosing your customers. I view this as a case of the latter. Maybe in a few years we will check this place out again but for now, they have priced me out of...

We have been coming to Mandarin Spice for some time now ordering parking lot sushi(it’s kind of turned into a date night for us)! Tonight was the first night we decided to dine in, thinking the whole menu was back open for dine in. Totally my mistake when I read a picture of the menu to quickly! The reason this is important is because we sat down excited to order all of our favorite sushi only to quickly realize.. dang it they are still carry out only for a-lot of the sushi. So totally embarrassed we had to tell Logan our waiter we would actually only be ordering an appetizer and then ordering the rest of our food togo!

I was so embarrassed but Logan was truly such a great waiter and made us not feel unwelcome at all! We still totally got the dine in experience while we wait for our appetizer and our takeout meal. He was funny, kind, welcoming and overall still very attentive to us! Most places you go and order take out you often don’t get as much attention, let’s face it that is because most people don’t tip for takeout. So I don’t blame people! But Logan did not treat us any different! I would also like to add the dumplings are by far the best I have ever had in Iowa. I love a true dumpling but have not found a place that makes them perfectly! This place does! They are not weak on the stuffing and of course the sauce is to die for!

Anyway, great experience and the first time we have really left feeling wowed so it was time to right a positive review! Logan really stood out, and the food is always amazing...

MOST ALL of the FOOD Iv TRIED from Here, Has Been GOOD. Tho I Was Surprised Last Time My Daughter Was There, She Spent Well OVER $100 & the MAIN Thing She WANTED & ASKED for SPECIFICALLY Was for their Egg Drop Soup, She ORDERED 10 SERVINGS & Was SHOCKD to FIND, 'NOT' ONLY DID SHE GET DRASTICALLY "OVER" CHARGED for VARIOUS FOOD ITEMS, MOST of WHICH She Did "NOT" EVEN GET!! She Was MORE UPSET to FIND, She Did "NOT" GET "ANY" of the '1' THING She & Her Kids "REALLY" WANTED & "SPECIFICALLY" ORDERED "SPECIAL", Being the EGG DROP SOUP!? But to ADD INSULT to INJURY, THEY GAVE HER 10 SERVINGS of SOME KIND of BEEF BROTH With MUSHROOM SOUP!? IN SMALLER CUPS Than Iv EVER SEEN & ASIDE the 'FACT' THEY GROSSLY-"OVER"-CHARGED HER, They "FAILED" to TELL Her "ANYTHING" About "NOT" HAVING "ANY" of WHAT she WANTED-& ASKED for!? But WORSE, the SOUP They GAVE Her, That She Did NOT ORDER Nor WANT, That She Was "Over" Charged for, Were "ALL" ONLY "PARTIALLY" Filled & in Cups HALF the SIZE As She'd NORMALLY GET!? So Our LAST Experience EATING at THIS RESTAURANT, WILL LIKELY BE JUST...

I went at lunch time. Great atmosphere with warrior statues. The lighting is not too bright and just right Monster roll- rice was sticky and soft. The tempura had a good crunch and the unagi sauce was very flavorful (ingredients in the attached image) I would order this again. New York strip teppanyaki- cooked perfectly medium rare. Noodles were flavorful and not hard or crunchy. The veggies were cooked through and not raw. The teppanyaki sauce on the steak was not over powering and the steak flavor was there. Calamari tempura - crispy and well seasoned. These come in strips instead of the calamari rings which is a plus. Hand breaded instead of store bought. My only complaint is that the sushi roll came after our main meal was served. I guess there was a lack of communication between the front of house and the sushi bar. The taste of the sushi made up for it.

Decor is great....Food was bland. No flavor. "Fried tofu" was soft as regular cooked tofu. Chicken entree was over cooked with no flavor, just drowned in sauce to try and save the dish. If you are seeking authentic Asian cuisine, do not go to this place. I never thought veggies could be undercooked and overcooked at the same time. Was not impressed and will not be coming back. Drove 50 minutes to come to this place based on a recommendation and it was a total waste of gas. Only great thing is the prices. Also, asked a staff member who brought the food out what type of dressing was on salad and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "I don't know" and just walked away. Waitress was friendly and knowledgeable when I asked her. So kudos to the wait staff, unfortunately, everything else is a bust.

OMFG I loved the food. They may be pricey but it was well worth it. My fiance loved every one of his sushi rolls. He said the only thing he didnt care for was the octopus because it was rubbery. They have some of the best Mongolian beef I've ever had. If you have the chance to try the pineapple fried rice....do so. The pineapple fried rice is officially what I'm going to judge every Chinese restaurant from now on. The staff was beyond friendly. The staff also took good care in making sure my food didnt touch any seafood because of my allergy. They have a great selection of drinks as well. I recommend the black cherry blossom cocktail. The inside looks very clean and beautifully designed.
