TLDR: DO NOT PAY FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT SLUMBERLAND IT IS A SCAM!
From the beginning: October 2022: Not a great experience so far. We went looking for a recliner in February of 2022. After shopping around and deciding on a make and model we bought from Slumberland. The purchasing experience was ok. I would have preferred that the sales guy not keep trying to sell us a bed to go with our recliner, but whatever. We paid the full amount of the order and delivery charge when we ordered and were told that the delivery estimate was showing late August, but that September was probably more realistic. Well both August and September have come and gone and we have not heard a word form the store. So we went in today to see what was going on. Now they are saying November. This is a long time to wait for something already paid for.
Update 9/10/24, demoting to one star, would set to zero if I could. We finally got the recliner in November 2022, nine months after we paid for it. Then in August 2024 the recliner caught on fire while my wife was sitting in it. Fortunately the damage was minimal and no one was hurt, but the power supply for this recliner was destroyed. Since we paid extra for an extended warranty when we bought the chair we figured it would be easy to get it fixed. So far it has been a month and still no luck getting the warranty repairs. The chair itself was fine, just the power supply cord was damaged. We went in to Slumberland and they said they could not help us at all, we were told we had to call their 1-800 number to get the chair fixed. We did this and were told that they could not help us either, we had to call another number to talk to the warranty company. We called them and gave them all our information that they already had. They kept asking for an email but I didn't want to give them one. Finally they said they would send a repair service out to look at the chair. The repair service called and told us the ONLY appointment they had was during the day over a month out from when we called. We took the appointment because it was literally the ONLY appointment they had to offer. Then a day later they called back and wanted to move the appointment up to a date just a few days away. Fortunately we have a flexible work schedule and were able to accept the appointment. The repair guy came out, confirmed the problem was exactly what we told them it was and said he would get the part on order. He said it should only take a couple weeks. Two weeks go buy and we have not heard anything from the warranty company, so I called them back. Then they told us they had not done anything on our claim because they needed a photo of the tag on the bottom of the chair. The repair guy had taken this photo and sent it to them but they said it was "too blury" and that they needed a new one. Of course they made no effort to ASK for a new one, they just waited to see if we would give up. I asked how I should send the photo to them, and they insisted they needed an email address to send a link to. I got the email but because I didn't have the photo yet I did not try the link. Later that day I took the photo and tried the link only to find out it was "expired". Honestly at this point I think this whole warranty is a scam. We have gotten nothing but run-around trying to get them to honor it. Reading other reviews of Slumberland and the Warranty company, this seems to be business as usual. They are just collection (and likely selling) persoal information, giving us the run-around and making excuses. I regret buying from Slumberland in the first place and I regret paying extra for this (so far) useless warranty. I suggest...
Read moreHonestly, you have great products for great prices, but a salesperson that kills the sales! It is okay to be helpful when a herd of sheep walks into the store and don't know what they want, but this sales person needs to recognize a wolf when she sees one. I came in 3 weeks ago with full intention of leaving with a new recliner and the only reason I didn't was because of the salesperson. She is very smug, and thinks she knows everything about everything, she offers suggestions on what would look best in your house when she has never even seen your house, she tries to talk you into buying the more expensive one even if the less expensive one is more comfortable to you, she talks in circles and contradicts herself and is just overall very rude! And anything you say to her from your own historical true experience she has to tell you a story about a cousin or a nephew or a brother and why it will be different this time! I went back this weekend because I really wanted a recliner and I told my wife if I could just get 10 minutes left alone I guarantee I will leave with a recliner and as soon as we walked in the door this lady rushes towards us like a tractor beam. My wife did her best to distract her by trying to ask her questions in a different area but the lady just could not wait to get back over to me and try to kill the sale again! I also believe nobody has ever said anything to her ever without her having the last word. I love my new recliner but I will probably pay more and go somewhere else next time if she still works there! I am an excellent salesman myself and have broken sales records in multiple states in my career, and you have to have more than one tactic. You have to be able to read the room and feel where your customers are coming from, and then change your tactics based on what you are sensing. This lady only has three speeds, pushy, smug, and arrogant! It is a shame that nobody in upper management has taken notice if how their beautiful store is being run. This lady has worked there for many years, she must be the manager or something, and I only know this because several years ago we shopped there for a new living room set and actually spent more money somewhere else on stuff we did not like as much because of the same situation with this lady! She may make the store a lot of money, but I guarantee she also loses the store a lot of money! She needs to realize that there are some other people in this world that are as good as she is, and stop talking down to people that you expect to...
Read moreIncredibly disappointed in customer service. Cannot currently comment on quality of merchandise as I am still waiting. I ordered a kitchen table, 6 chairs, 2 barstools in the beginning of December 2020. They estimated with the pandemic etc. that the wait period would be 4-6 weeks. This put my purchase at their distribution center around the first part of February. No big deal. They were running a special for free delivery, which we had to ask for, it wasn't just offered. First part of February goes by and I (not them reaching out to be proactive) called to get an update on my order. Turns out it's going to be another 4-6 weeks before my order comes in. I generously gave them until the middle of April to call (again, me requesting an update, not them keeping me updated). The sales person that sold to me was unavailable and I unfortunately didn't get the name of the gentleman that helped me on this particular call. I was told my table and chairs were in but not my barstools, and they were waiting to call once they had the full set. Not taking into consideration that I may want my order as it came in, and that was probably something they should've let me decide considering at this point I've waited 4.5 months. The person on the phone stated that since I'd had to wait as long as I had, the best they could do was to offer full service delivery. He told me that they would call on 4/27 to set up a two hour time frame and deliver and set up my table and chairs on 4/29. After I spoke this this associate I was called by my original salesman to let me know that my table and chairs were in. I assumed, mistakenly, that since I had already spoken with someone about a delivery date and told that I would be called I didn't need to return the message. False.. they didn't put any note in the system from speaking with me. I waited until around 1200 to call on 4/27 to set up a delivery time. The person I spoke with stated they were full on delivery times on the 29th and the best they could do was 5/13. At this point I'm pretty fed up. I call on 4/28 to see if I can just come and pick up my order. Nope. They don't actually have it, their distribution center does. The earliest I can pick it up is 5/7. Real cool. Never ordering from there again. The only things stopping me from cancelling my order is how much I liked the table/chairs/barstools I picked out. Do...
