I have no idea who the Altitude radio announcer is for the Avalanche, but I tuned in to listen to Game 1 of the Av's / Jets series and ......... I will try to be nice. Someone told me his name is Conor McGayhee and he isn't worth caring about the spelling of his name.
Homer with a capital "H"!!!! This guy blamed half of Winnepeg's goals on some random act of the universe. He blamed two goals on a missed "holding the stick" call and one on TORONTO review. He constantly whined about Colorado not getting power plays and then chastised the Winnepeg crowd for booing an Av's power play goal. He even blamed the RINK, stating that the Jets' barn has the worst dasher boards in the league. He cried over quick whistles as well.
I'm all for supporting the Avalanche via subtle positivity and even a paycheck bias, but I quickly tired of his incredulous banter. Everything from the league, the officials, the rink, and the fans.... I was honestly waiting for him to blame the weather, concession prices, Patrick Roy, Russell Wilson, Trump, Biden, the solar eclipse, and ANYTHING other than Avalanche play or coaching.
I'm not a Jet's fan and I enjoy most hockey analysis.... I usually catch a few Av's games during snowboard trips and KNOW this franchise can do better.
04/26/24 Traveling and listening to this yardbird call Game 3 of the Avs / Jets series on the Altitude webcast and he is STILL crying about no-calls when the Jets attack and quick whistles when the Avs attack. He also whined that Winnepeg knocked the net off during a goalmouth skirmish.
Possible correlation between the Colorado legalization of recreational marijauna use????? Who knows, but certainly worth some thought.
Lastly...... he said "Easy, breezy, Zach Parise" when Parise scored. THAT ALONE just flattens any credibility that Homer might have.
04/28/24 Valeri Nichushkin scores and Homer said something about a "Chu Chu train". Cale Makar scores and Homer said "All hail Cale".
Two words........
Read moreSeriously?! Over 17 hours away and I am in your market? I would love to watch Colorado Avalanche games through my ESPN+ subscription. If I could watch, I likely would've been a bigger Avs fan by now. However, I am apparently in Altitude's market and so I am blacked out from watching any normal Avs games on the app. You won't let potential Colorado fans enjoy the Av's product...checks notes...over...
Read moreGet up with the times and make our local sports teams readily available for all Coloradans. We should not have to use DirectTV or other to watch our Avs play. It is extremely disheartening that you can’t provide a streaming service for locals who only care about watching their local sports teams. You are a highly disappointing service at this point with your limited streaming availability. Boo on...
