A Confusing and Disappointing Experience at Ladron Wine Tasting
I recently visited Ladron Wine Tasting in Englewood, CO, and had one of the most bizarre and bewildering experiences I’ve ever encountered at a wine tasting. It all began when Tracy, our host, informed us that there were two different tasting options: one for reds and one for whites. However, after our first white wine, she suddenly changed course and mentioned that we weren’t guaranteed an all-white tasting.
This abrupt shift in communication left our entire party confused and questioning the clarity of the service. It felt as though Tracy was more interested in finding a way to avoid serving us rather than ensuring we had a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The situation only escalated when Tracy remarked that we weren’t “Jiving.” To be clear, the lack of “Jiving” was a direct result of the poor service and confusing communication we received.
In the end, Tracy decided that we didn’t need to pay, which was a surprising conclusion to an already strange experience. While the gesture was appreciated, it did little to remedy the overall confusion and disappointment we felt.
This was far from the relaxing and enjoyable wine tasting experience we had anticipated. I hope Ladron Wine Tasting considers this feedback and makes the necessary improvements to ensure future guests have a clearer and more positive experience.
Based on other reviews I was expecting a better experience and perhaps it all depends on who your server is.
Editing this to add that I believe Tracy is one of the owners which, if this is true then it just makes my experience even worse. She clearly was bothered with having to serve us and didn’t want anything to do with explaining the wines she was fumbling to serve. It was very obvious she didn’t want myself or the group I was with in her...

One of the best ways to try and experience good wine is that relaxed wine tasting experience. This is an experience where you remove the all that external “noise” and get to try a flight of wines and sometimes paired cheese selection with each wine.
When you walk into Ladrón Cellars you feel immediately relaxed with the decor and smiling hosts. This is very rare to have thugs more “traditional” tasting experience vs the wine bar feel.
We were able to taste their main flight as well the reserve flight. Both were delicious and smoothly guided you through the different blends and tastes follow. Well balanced and some nice complexities that peeked out in each sip.
A few wines that I enjoyed (and picked up a few bottles) this visit were the Matador which was mostly Tempranillo with a little zin (perfect note of some pepper).
The other one I really enjoyed was their 2018 Knuckles. This bottle had and old school bare knuckle boxer art on the front and did it’s “jab”on my palate.
We got to have a tour of threat back area and wine making facility and future barrel tasting room. Even though when I came to visit it was snowing out, but they have an amazing patio and looks like a relaxing place to take in a sunset with some wine.
Overall ver satisfied and so glad I found this new wine tasting experience.
I recommend you to try it out, say hello to Tracy and the crew, and let me know which was your favorite...
Read moreThis is a true California wine tasting room in the heart of Englewood! I frequently visit the Paso Robles region of California for wine. I was at Ladron’s sister winery in CA when I found out they had a beautiful location here in Colorado! My only regret is not finding it sooner! The tasting room is gorgeous, the wines are absolutely stunningly and the location is perfect! It has become a favorite date night for myself and husband. Especially on Friday nights with live music! The owner and wine maker Richard is friendly and knowledgeable! His wife Tracy is often at the winery as well and one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! If you are a true wine lover…. Don’t miss...
