This is an email I’ve sent and ive not yet heard back so maybe posting here it will get acknowledged.
“My partner and I just visited your location in Charleston, West Virginia.
My partner was shopping for some work pants that she urgently needed for tomorrow, as their dress code just changed on Fridays. After selecting a few items, we approached the dressing room where one door was unlocked. My partner went inside and closed the door. Immediately, one of your employees began yelling, “Dressing rooms are closed!” and questioning whether my partner had shut the door. She approached the dressing room in a very rude manner, informing me that they had announced the dressing room was closed. I explained that we did not hear any announcement and would not have entered otherwise.
The employee continued to yell to her coworkers, asking, “Should I open the door?” while my partner was inside changing. She was speaking loudly about how the dressing rooms were closed and how my partner had entered. I felt compelled to intervene, stating it wasn’t a significant issue, that my partner would be out shortly, and that we needed these pants. Despite my efforts to de-escalate the situation, the employee remained rude. I expressed my concern about her unprofessional behavior, with two other employees overhearing the entire exchange.
I want to emphasize that I never raised my voice or insulted your employee. Speaking up takes a lot for me, as I usually let things go. However, as a paying customer in a dressing room just 35 minutes before closing, I felt it was necessary. We left in plenty of time and returned all items to their original places. I am truly appalled by this experience and embarrassed by the employee's conduct. Having worked in retail myself, I find it unacceptable for someone to speak about a customer in such a manner while at their workplace.
This employee was heavier set, light skinned, dark hair down but pinned back, wearing blue Gabe’s shirt with black jacket, cross body purse, hooped earrings. This took place on 4/17/25 at...
Read moreWe shop Gabe's in Kanawha City most often. Personally, the selection of clothing items has gone down while prices have gone up. My main pet peeve is the shoe dept. Seems they have a soft spot for those that dance with a pole or remove clothing as a form of entertainment. Used to be able to purchase nice leather sandals, White Mountain shoes, occasionally Bass etc....now the shoes are cheap plastic, gawdy florals or 9" heels covered in glitter. Don't get me wrong I love sparkle as much as the nect chick but...look at the women walking through the doors. Majority are not a size 2 with the ability to balance on stilts. When the stores were sold awhile back I believe alit of the "magic" left with the former buyers or owners. I do not care if you have shiny blue signage and I do not personally like being herded like beef to slaughter. I want a bargain, I want selection and you are not providing the choices nor prices which we grew accustom to. I will say the employees are great. Friendly, helpful but they can not fix...
Read moreI was there yesterday, there was an extremely rude old woman with glasses working beside the registers. I had just come in the door and as it was my first visit to the store I just grabbed a buggy beside the register. The old woman flipped out and started acting like I did that to personally offend her. She told me it was her buggy and I couldn't have it. I said, "I'm sorry I thought you worked here." She said "I do, but this is my buggy, I'm processing so you can't have it." I really had no idea why she was so angry and didn't know it was "her" buggy since she was messing with another cart and I can't read minds. She pointed to where the other buggies were as she flipped out so i walked over to get one and she announced that "are you stupid? Why would you come over here to take a buggy?" Everybody standing near the front was staring at her like they couldn't believe she was so crazy to act the way she did. It was embarrassing and I won't...
