I had a stroke almost a year ago and have had NO INCOME until recently. 3 months after I got out of hospital, the day before LAST thanksgiving my families home burned and was a total loss. I had a need for clothing so went into store with a budget! I also noticed a box spring and asked who was in charge of pricing items, and asked if they would consider dropping the price a little. Then I could afford clothes needed as well as the box spring needed ( this was a CASH purchase NOT a voucher purchase) but the guy said NO CANT DO IT!!! They were asking 29.95 , if they had dropped it to 25.oo or 20 I would have been able to purchase it.
I WAS DISAPPOINTED! Thought this CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION was about helping others.I did not expect ANYTHING for free! I did not want a HANDOUT ..simply a HAND UP ( though NOT expecting one figuratively UP in my face) they should have just stopped me at the door. And I did not see a sign but was left wondering how much they were charging for Smiles, because I didn't see none while we were in there! Mountain Mission; NOTHING PERSONAL its...
Read moreToday will be the last time I make a donation. I pull up to the donation area and the doors are closed. I go ahead and put 6/7 bags of donations in a wheeled cart outside the doors. I start walking back to my car when a worker comes out and asks me why I put the donations in the trash. This bin looks similar to all the other donation bins at other charities. Nothing indicating it was trash. I told him I didn't know it was trash because no one was out here to tell me otherwise.
He then starts going through the bags and handing them back to me. He tells me they don't accept books. Um, I guess the book section inside the store is a figment of my imagination?
I put the books back in my trunk and he starts going through the other bags asking what's in them. At this point I almost take everything back and take it to another store. I didn't donate trash. Some of the items had never been used or...
Read moreI was told by the case manager who gave me a time to come in, but he wasn’t there, that they’ll pay one bill. We took the bill in and they would only pay $80 of a Almost $500 bill and we had to pay the $418 before they would do it. Now we wouldn’t have went and use the time or gas if this was what we were told. And that’s not paying one bill. That’s giving a small percentage of the termination notice. I don’t know if the case manager isn’t aware or the workers there. But that’s not even touching anything and nor...
