Saltwater Cycle Party Boat Tours — Local services in Charleston

I had reached out by email with all of this almost a half year ago right after this experience and had never heard back from the company, so I am posting my review here publicly now so that others can know what they could expect:

My group had booked 1 month in advance for a Saltwater Cycle Boat tour for a bachelorette party. The bride did not have many requests for the weekend, but had specifically requested a pedal tavern experience, so we were excited to book with Saltwater Cycle and were thrilled that the weather was sunny and warm.

However, we were confused and dismayed that only once we left the shore, we discovered that the pedals did not actually work, and that this was known by the staff ahead of time. We fully understood before booking that pedaling did not fully to power the boat, but the pedals wouldn’t even move forward — they were locked in place and moved backward with no resistance. One of the “captains” said something hand-wavy about it when we first brought it up before the ship moved— something to the effect of “hm I’m not sure,” but once I brought it up again to the other “captain” once we had left shore, he said that the chain for the pedals was being serviced and hadn’t come back yet. Furthermore, there wasn’t space for all of us (our bachelorette party of 8, another smaller bachelorette party, and two women who said they knew the owner who booked that morning) to sit on the boat, nevermind be able to all cycle had the pedals even worked. This was a disappointment; we weren’t able to actually do the experience that you brand yourself for— the experience that we specifically paid to do — and had we known that we would not have the advertised experience, we likely would have made other arrangements for the day. We had the absolute best time on our BYOB boat ride for my friend’s bachelorette party! From start to finish, everything was smooth, fun, and exactly the vibe we were looking for. The boat was super clean, spacious, and perfect for dancing, lounging, and celebrating.

Huge shoutout to our amazing captains, Trevor and Jack! They were not only professional and safe but also so friendly and fun—they totally matched our energy and made the whole experience even more memorable. They helped with our setup, took group photos for us, and even sang along to our playlist.

We brought our own drinks, and the boat had coolers and plenty of space to keep everything chilled. Whether we were cruising, soaking up the sun, or dancing, it felt like our own private party on the water.

Saltwater Cycle was one of the best decisions I made in planning my best friend’s bachelorette weekend. It was so much fun and a great day on the water and I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about booking! We were a little hungover and tired and the hour and half out there was just what we needed. It was so easy and relaxed and you don’t have to petal at all if you don’t want too, so don’t worry about that at all! Sunshine was hilarious and made the trip so fun! 10/10 would recommend them!!! They even stopped at a bar along the way and we were able to get out and get drinks and bring them back to the boat and keep the party going.
