I reached out to this dock building company in hopes that I could get a rebuild estimate for out marina in the unfortunate event that we might experience a total loss. I was able to speak with the owner Mr. Daniel Fox and he seemed like a decent guy who was willing to offer us his company’s service which in our case was to come out and give us a comprehensive rebuild cost assessment for our 90 boat slip marina. He promised to contact our Dockmaster, but failed to do so. I contacted him via text asking to please follow up which he finally did after my reminder.

Then he indicated he would contact us next week to schedule the site visit and to provide a price for his estimate. After not hearing back from Mr. Fox by the end of business on Tuesday I texted him asking when we would be hearing from him. He texted back indicating he had run into an “emergency” and wouldn’t be able to come out this week and suggested I find someone else if we needed the estimate sooner.

I must be frank when I say that Mr. Fox had said a lot of the right things initially on the phone making me think he would be professional and would be a good fit for our needs. Unfortunately in our experience his words did NOT match his actions. I am a small business owner as well so perhaps my standards are too high but I feel that it is very important to respect your customers and do what you promise. If this can’t be achieved you need to be proactive and contact them but vice versa to relay a change in scheduled plans. I was very surprised that we had to be the one to reach out to his company to uncover his need to alter his scheduled visit and was even more surprised that he texted me in a manner that made us feel like he didn’t need us as a customer. I truly can’t recommend his company as a result and hope he chooses to hire more help or become more considerate to making it a point to communicate changes if they arise in the future. I would like to share my experience with Swamp Fox Dock & Marine and owner Daniel Fox. First, I would like to give Swamp Fox Dock & Marine my highest personal endorsement and recommendation for anyone searching for someone who can plan, permit and construct a fantastic dock in the Charleston area. His dedication and professionalism shown throughout the project are the reasons for my highest recommendation. My project was a massive undertaking which comprised of planning, permitting and building a 1000’ (yes 1000’) dock with water and electrical power over various kinds of marsh, water and land to a deep water creek with a pier head, floater and powered boat lift at the end. The demanding project required extensive planning and coordination with multiple local, state and federal agencies which all required their own list of restrictions. There were multiple barriers and road blocks along the way to say the least but Daniel held our hand the entire way. We interviewed four dock builders for this project and chose Daniel because of his energy, vision and past projects that we were able to go visit. He was not the cheapest nor the most expensive estimate but he spent the most time and gave us the most reasonable and creative solutions to a difficult build. He even helped find a great land surveyor which may have saved the entire project. Daniel and his team worked very hard and produced a beautiful dock that we will enjoy with our family for many years. My dock is extremely well built with all stainless steel metals. Finding anyone to do construction work on your home or property is a very stressful time. You think about price, quality, and reliability. Like most people, I requested many quotes, searched for reviews, and talked with people that had been through the experience. After weeks of research, I had decided on a company that checked all the boxes. I was ready to go, but I had one more company to talk with, and that is when I met Daniel Fox (Swamp Fox Docks). When Daniel showed up, everything changed. Daniel spent three hours with me, explaining in detail, all aspects of dock building. He looked at the project (most builders didn’t come to the property) and explained why his product was better. He then got on the phone and called a past customer to take me to see his work. He physically showed me what he does differently compared to other builders, and how he incorporates the things he has learned over many years of building docks into his construction. He explained how his unique construction techniques add longevity, comfort, and an overall better product. By the time Daniel left I felt at ease about the project, and I knew before I had the price that this was who was building my dock.
